What's the image that first pops into your head

The first image that pops into my head from my youth is a TT Datejust with a jubilee bracelet. Classic Rolex.

I think that if you look at Rolex over the long haul, the DateJust was iconic of Rolex, however since the Eighties, I do believe that the Sub has replaced that image, even though the DateJust might be the bigger seller.

The Sub was a definite 80s, yuppie phenomenon and was a cultural icon of that period.

Rolex was not on my radar until probably about 1973-74, when I had a brief acquaintance with a detective who wore a Sub.

That watch really fascinated me and that first impression really stayed with me.

The experience I had during the lean years while getting my education working as a lowly full-time student and part-time security guard around young, brash, affluent (or more likely over-extended) attorneys left sort of a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm fortunate that I kept my mind open enough to really learn about the brand and what it truly represents, rather than the shallow, shrill, glitz of the Eighties.

YG DD President......had heard the name Rolex but first took note (1970 or so) when I saw one in a shop window. I think the price was $1,300. That image still comes to my mind first. However......fell in love with the TT DJ and have been happily wearing that model for many years.

No need to be sorry. There's no right or wrong answer. Actually touching that you think of family as well.

There's some concept Law of Primacy relating that your first exposures to information may be the strongest. I just like hearing about people's varied first impressions/associations of the brand/product and how (if it has) changed at all over time. Thanks for playing everyone. :)

For me, my cousin's datejust. I want to say he bought it 10 years ago before I had an understanding of watches and what they cost. He bought it new at around $8k and this concept was just unbelievable to me at the time. How could he possibly justify that kind of money on a watch? It just seemed so over the top. Well here I am a decade or so later with a datejust myself. I would have to say that's the first thing that comes to mind for me. As it turns out my grandfather had a solid gold Omega seamaster since 1966 that I never even noticed. No one really even talked about it but my cousins Rolex, that was big news!

That Bark bracelet is the very first thing that pops in my head. Cause that's the first one I saw, It think it was called a Presidental, maybe I'm wrong it was back in 1980. It was all iced out. Some big high roller had it on at Ceasars Palace when they used to have the fights there. The Duran fight in 1980 when he fought Sugar Ray, Duran said "No Mas" the whole place went nuts. I had just started at UNLV.

The first Rolex I saw was my friends 2001 DJ 16234 on a jubilee, what a watch. I fell in love with the bracelet the way it reflected life off the small links. I wanted one ever since and in May of 2011 I bought my 16233 and love it.
