Although mine is a RG day date, surprisingly after I worn it for maybe 320 of the past 365 days I have only had maybe a couple people notice and comment on it (excluding friends or acquaintances who know my interest in Rolex) or jeweler/AD types.
I'm guessing others may have noticed but not commented. I like it that way, I'd be uneasy if I got unwanted attention, and just indicate it is a knock off. |

Personally, I don't think it's age appropriate. It's like being young and driving a S-class Mercedes Benz. But if you like it a whole lot then buy one. I would get it insured; it doesn't cost much and will give you good peace of mind.

Unfortunately I was not a WIS back then and was happy with a very tasteful solid YG gold Concord quartz dress watch on a black lizard strap. I discovered Rolex about seven years later. I had always wanted a YG day-date and it had been my grail watch since then but never was able to let myself get one until my 50th b-day last December. I wish I had gotten it much sooner to enjoy. Now that I am past the halfway point in life, I reflect on a lot of things I wish I had known about and done sooner so they could be enjoyed longer. As for wearing a daydate at your age, if it's what you like and you can "truely afford it" I say go ahead and enjoy your good taste!!! If you are smart enough to be able to afford the daydate then you should also be smart enough to know when and where you should wear it in the big city you live in. If you can't figure that out and it's stolen from you then you probably were not up to owning and wearing it. Remember, no " thing" is worth your life and if you would risk your life for the watch in a robbery then you are again, IMHO not up to owning to affording a watch like that.

Yep x2. If you know u will get, get it sooner as it will only cost more in the future and you can start enjoying it sooner. I knew I'd have to stretch to afford it but knew I wanted one someday before I turn 40. Plus with pre-own can typically get it for 50-60% of current retail.

DSSD is a completely different watch to the DD, you can't compare a DSSD vs a DD. Its akin to comparing a tank (a good tank ) with a Bentley. |
