Ask him what he wants for it and if he won`t give you an answer then he`s trying to sucker you into making an offer which means he`s well aware of the the value and will want to get as much as he can regardless of your offer,if he makes you an offer of much less than ten grand you might have a chance at a decent counter offer.

I wouldn't undercut my boss, that's a bad move. You could potentially lose more than what you saved on the watch.

Don't lowball. If you get it for 9K, that's a fantastic deal.

9k is a fair price.

tell him you need to have the movement service and see if he will pick up the cost. in this way, u can get it polish and remove the scratches.

Technically, his boss knows what the watch is worth. So if the OP tell his boss that he cannot go higher than 7-8k, the boss has the final word if he will sell it to him or not. The OP is not forcing his boss to sell it or putting a gun to his fascia.

Talked to him a little last night. He paid $9500+tax for it.

He will be coming down to my wedding in a couple weeks and he said he would bring the box and all the papers in case we strike a deal. My thinking is that I should be able to pick it up for $8k. Its over a year old and I think taking a 15% hit on it isnt bad.

I wonder what an AD would take on a trade-in? He purchased it from Mayors.

What serial number would that Daytona be? I assume it was made in late 2010 or early 2011.

I say if you have the $ and want the Daytona then go for it. Even if he wants all $9500 he paid for it If its worth it to you go for it.

You are right... Just checked my receipt that says 12178 with tax...I always thought it was 10950 before tax for some reason.

Good luck!
