I have come to realize that you should wear what you like, regardless of the brand.
There are plenty of other brands I wear as well also. I used to think that Rolex was well above and beyond others but that is not entirely true. There are other brands that come pretty darn close for less.

You are right there has been an uptick in APs as well. As a matter of fact I saw a guy with an AP on the 6 train this morning coming to work.

Singaporean are more exposed to international brands now. So they are going for other brands like AP, IWC, Frank Muller, Patek , Panerai etc.

I'd say there aren't enough Rolex watches to satisfy demand.
The Rolex buyer does not care about financial crises.
Look in Greece, there we have the MOTHER of all financial crisis...yet
Rolex sales are brisk - especially the SS sport models - forget about it.

I'm in the Chicago burbs and I rarely see Rolex. I'd prefer to see less people wearing Rolex.

The last few years some of the new models have been of questionable design/style.

Not quite true! Rolex is still selling well here. By the way, one cannot find Rolex at every corner of Singapore. He needs to go to the right places, just like other luxury brands! :-)

Well, the shift if any is not obvious to me.

I don't think you can conclude from a random observation like that the Rolex "hotness" is diminishing.

I think the interesting in horology is increasing in general in the middle-to-older generation (while kids these days more rarely wear watches) and so has access to a variety of brands. Still, Rolex is as hot as ever IMO.

ROLEX and PAMs all day where I work/live. I love how I'll see a 20-something with one, and then an 65+ guy with one. Loves brands that cover all demographics, like Polo for instance. Anybody, at any age, can wear Polo. Same with Rolex.

I went to my local AD today and they had more Yg and wg and plat models than I've ever seen before, and a ton of SS And TT, so I'd say, no. Rolex is hot!!!

Rolex is the gold standard. If someone has a Patek, they probably have a Rolex.
