Sorry for your lost.
The general public here appreciate watch as a family heirloom. Maybe you should consider that if money isnt a problem.

Welcome to TRF, sorry to hear of your father's passing.

Anyways, the watch looks genuine, but I strongly suggest taking it to an authorized Rolex dealer for closer inspection. Best of luck & nice watch!!

Sorry for your loss...

I think you should keep the watch in honor of your father and have it passed down.

Relax! Give the OP a chance. Let's see how this progresses before passing judgement.

hello guys i took it to the pawn shop that someone on here told me was good and the watch is real but the band is a replacement but does contain some real gold
he offered me 4,000 but i kept the watch
like i said my dad bought it from an IRS auction so they must have replaced the band

Any more pictures? id like to see this band up close. If you are going to wear it, I would throw on a leather band with a deployment clasp, over wearing a partially gold replacement band, unless of course, you do for sentimental reasons, which would be completely understandable.

I don't know...

I just don't know...

Why would anyone want opinion and advice, and then throw up dodgy, blurry photos?

Reminds me of all the times I bring my car to the mechanic, but I make him put a veil over his eyes before he assesses the engine..

Chillax, dude.

Some of the coolest stories come from ppl who just had a watch land in their lap. If the watch is fake or the poster is a scammer, it will become abundantly clear -- the folks hereabouts leave no stone unturned.

What kind of camera are you using? And you are going to need to take it outside and use the sunlight, because what you have just isnt going to work.

try the tricks here.

If you dont have access to anything else you arent going to get much better. Try the natural light.

I take all of my pictures with my iphone... just take them until we can see some detail and or type face on the watch.

They didn’t open the case at the Pawn Shop? If you really need to know open the case back and post photos that will make it easier to identify with the limited photo quality. You can use a ball of Duct Tape sticky side out (google search duct tape watch opener if you need more details) to unscrew the case back. I have used this many times and it works every time. good luck.

wow that is so harsh.. I always hate when new comers to trf get this sort of treatment.. innocent until proven guilty the guys father has passed away give him a break! Anyway if that is really an authentic day date its a lovely piece to inherit and cherish for the rest of your life. Wear it with fond memories !

This is no way to welcome a new member that inherited a watch

It does really happen and some people wouldn't know a rolex from a rock. I found this site from doing a Google search as it comes up usually 1st or 2nd on Google. So, to find us, TRF, by getting on-line is more than luck, it's only a matter of time

Believe it or not, before I started on TRF I didn't even own a camera. Seeing great pictures here motivated me to improve my photo technology...

OP, welcome, take some links out and enjoy that beautiful watch that Sonny Crockett sported in so many episodes....,
