One of the things that's neat about the Toyota Prius is how much torque it has:

Wimpy Gas Engine 1.5L
76 hp @ 5000 rpm (57 kW @ 5000 rpm)
Torque 82 lb.-ft. @ 4200 rpm (111 N m @ 4200 rpm)

PLUS

Motor type Permanent magnet AC synchronous motor
Power output 67 hp @ 1200-1540 rpm (50 kW @ 1200-1540 rpm)
Torque 295 lb.-ft. @ 0-1200 rpm (400 Nm @ 0-1200 rpm)

My former 2000 Chevy Camaro Z28 had approximately 330hp/300lbft stock. That's like 246 kW via a 5.7L v8... yummy!

Actually, we do. It's rebranded for the US as the Acura TSX.

However, the price is US$28,190.

Sorry to hear about your situation Vanessa. Hopefully you're alright. Shouldn't the insurance company cover the cost for a replacement vehicle? I can't imagine your 2007 would depreciate that much already.

But I will agree with the others and say that you're not going to get a new Honda or Toyota v6 for $20k. You can probably pick up a used one for that price. If not, 4 cylinder isn't that bad and you save on gas.

Hi Vanessa, glad to read that you're still here after that smashup!

You might want to take the same advice I've given my car repair customers, and take a hard look at the Hyundai lineup. Several have bought, and all have been pleased. The Sonata came in last year as #1 family sedan in the JD Powers Initial Build Quality survey, and is priced below the Camry and Accord.

Hyundai also offers the best warranty in the industry.

Thank you all for your input!
I put a deposit down on a 2008 Camry V6...
It's a little more than planned, but hey isn't that how it always goes!
We'll have to wait and see what we're going to get from the insurance, but should get the full value of the '07 back. (+/- 22k)

Thank you again, and be safe out there!

Glad you are O.K. Vanessa
I find it incredible that people can run red lights.
Riding a motorcycle, if what happened to you happened to me, well there but for the grace of God.
I hope you get fully recompensed and the offender gets their just deserts.

You can't go wrong with a Camry or Accord IMO although I'm not familiar with the problems Karis mentions but it may be worth looking into before you take the plunge.

Hi, you could get a 1970s Ferrari 308 gt4 in your budget in decent condition V8 or maybe even an Acura NSX 1991 automatic. Seriously, get a Mustang GT possibly a 2002 body style for a lot less money maybe $7K. my 2 cents

get the 2007 accord V6. they just release the new model. so if you do not care about the 2007 old model. it should be affordable.

BUT THE BREAKING SYSTEM IS KIND OF CRAPPY. or very crappy.

Rolex watches on a price par though.

Although I give the Accord an edge over the Camry -- especially with the
introduction of the new 2008 Accord model -- in truth, you can't go wrong
with either one.

Now that's what I'm talking about. What a superbly decorated interior.....would make most European cars look pretty drab by comparison!!!

The new Accord reminds me of the new C-class Mercedes, except the Accord will start every morning provided it has gas in the tank.

Hi Vanessa. Glad that you're ok from the accident and you found the time to come back.

We had an Accord. It was a good car, traded it for an Altima. The Altima was a good car also, but ultimately we traded it for a Hyundai Sonata. From our experiences, it's the best and safest of the three. You might want to give it a look.

It's a snowplow, not a cow catcher. I got rid of the old set up and moved on to something new. Kelly's grandfather is retired from GM and we are entitled to his family discount in addition to any other rebates that are being offered at the time.

This is "MY" first vehicle with power windows and locks. I'm liking them very much

Thanks for the kudos pal

I think the Elements are a very good bang for the buck.
Great beach car, lots of interior room, great safety features 6 speed and
$ 20k

Quirky styling ("love it or hate it") but a solid, dependable, utilitarian vehicle
and, undeniably, a great price-performer!

First of all; I LOVE it when you guys are soooo good at changing the subject on a thread!

Secondly; the girl that hit us claims she went thru the green light! You know, she didn't even hit the brakes before she crashed into us! And she had her cell phone still in her hand when she jumped out of her car, screaming and yelling! Anyways, they have no proof and no witnesses besides ourselfs that she had a red light while we had a green arrow!
So the cops left it at that! They didn't even check if she was drunk or anything.

Now, my question is to all the lawyers out here... please pm me if this is your expertise, I don't know where to go from here... Should I get a lawyer myself?

Thank you all again!

Well, if there were no independent witnesses, then it will be your word against hers. If you had another person in your car they can also be a witness.
If you have insurance, then your insurance should pay you for your damage (less your excess) and under their rights of subrogation, your insurance company could sue the other driver in your name and require you and your passenger to be witnesses, in seeking to recover the money your insurer has paid out to you.
If you don't have insurance, then yes, you would need to go and see a lawyer and get him/her to go through the necessary steps.
I hope you can get a result without too much trouble.
Driving whilst using a cell phone is negligent in my book, and impairs concerntration on the road.
Good Luck
