Well it wasn't an exam Lisa, more of an exercise I had to make so there's no grade, I would either pass it or fail it (although it's impossible to fail it, I had to bring the block to the teacher for every side I'd file so he could see if it was straight, then I'd get to work on another one).

As for keeping it, I don't know yet but it is in one of my desk's drawers now. As I've said, I'm going to use it in another class in which I'll have to change the color of steel caps using heat (pretty much like what they do to make blue'd steel hands), those caps will then be put in this block.

Looking good Carl!

I am considering going down the road to OSUIT in Okmulgee to watchmaking school. I have always wanted to do it and I might as well try it since I am 43yrs old..if I can get the time to do it.

What watchmaking school are you going to?

Shawn

It's a school in the province of Quebec, the only one in Canada actually.

Thank you very much for your comments!

Now you looks like Tommi Iommi my friend.

In about a few year you will be the next Dan Spitz.

Congrats Carl, just keep on rocking and polishing.

Maybe it's something to thinking about? Female watchmakers have the feeling.

Thank you Jocke! I always wanted to look a bit more like Iommi (being a left handed isn't enough for me...).

Yes, The one I am talking about is at the OSU campus in Okmulgee, I think it used to be called Okmulgee Tech..I also think they have one on the main campus in Stillwater

I know Rolex sponsors the equipment at the school and also gives them something like $1mil every 5 yrs for the course..

I think it would be very interesting to go for that degree

Now I know what to do when the kids all leave home... but not sure my eyes could handle it.

I remember Okmulgee Tech had a very good culinary school. I went to OSU in Stillwater no doubt long before there was a watchmaking school.

Yes they do have a good culinary school..I served in the Army for 15yrs and had the opportunity to go to OSU and OU among 4 other schools throughout the world where I served.

My brother in law went to Okmulgee Tech and he owns his own jewelry store here in Muskogee.

Believe it or not, my Canadian friend, I was wondering about your brass block.

Congrats! Now don't lose any fingers, ok?

Well it is doing just fine Craig, thank you!

...Can't say the same about the fingers though (as you can see), I'll do my best to keep all nine of them...

...Wait...

First your hand got burnt. Now your fingers are traumatised with blisters.

I always knew watchmaking required supreme dedication and perseverance, but I never realised it was literally that "painstaking" !!

Thanks for the update and I'm already looking forward to the next instalment, provided of course you're not too injured to type by then.

Thank you Julian! Yes it can be potentially dangerous but it isn't that bad...
