And the reason I asked here because I could have easily been fooled. I am no expert, no where close. Like I said I am not a complete dumb ass so that left a margin of dumb ass.

Be careful that he doesn't claim you switched watches or something similar.

Some knowledgeable people already told you that it's a fake and you are still wasting you time on that poc.

Look at the clasp parts and be told that Rolex would never deliver such a piece of junk.

Where do you see I am wasting my time? I thanked everyone and said I am moving on...

The clasp actually looks decent. Not knowing the DSSD there was nothing that threw me off from the start.

Hey Chopped - I for one believe that you're trying to get legitimate info. But I will agree with the rest - it is a fake. One tell-tale sign (among many others) is the awful end-link fit. In the real DSSD's it is almost surgically accurate and there is almost no play between the end-link and the lugs. Pass on it.

Also, it being a fake, you should have no issues taking off the caseback, you don't need tools, just use your hands and turn counter clockwise.

agree with all the other members...but as mosco said, the easiest way to tell is the when you set the time what direction do you rotate the crown? Counter Clock wise or Clock wise? I'll bet it CCW on your particular watch......

Finally got home and pulled my Daytona out to side by side them.
Pretty obvious.

I am just learning, and big thanks to everyone!!!
I flip cars and trucks and figured I could try to advertise I would trade for watches.
After this it is obvious I am still too green to be safe.
Thanks again guys, TRF is a great resource!

Oh and the guy was not thrilled when I told him.
He said he traded at a well known pawn shop so not sure if he got scammed or is trying to scam.
At any rate I didn't get scammed!

Not sure how the law is in the US but isn't the attempt to trade in a fake watch a criminal offense?

If someone would try that with me, I'll certainly take action. It's similar to pay with fake money, isn't it?

He left the watch with you (big red flag) but pretends that it`s real.............you gotta be kidding, tell him to pull your other leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you leave your genuine $9000.00 DSSD with a complete stranger to let them have it checked out?

I have an established business licensed and registered with the state of Texas so it was a little different than just leaving with some random Craigslist dude.

I guess it all comes down to proving intent. With the watch it might be difficult. As long as the seller acts in good faith not sure how to do that

Wow - what if he claims he gave you a real one and you return a fake? Good thing it all ended peacefully.

Let us know how it turns out when the return is complete...
Good luck - he may actually be a victim, too, and not realize he has a fake.

Regardless of even if it was genuine, I still wouldn't take the risk. It's just not worth the potential issues for the sake of saving a bit of money.
