I thought like you did and then tried on the explorer 2 polar and the dial is just very big looking and empty,to me any ways it was a big turn off.the black I liked a lot more.

Ya I really should go try them on, but I always feel bad walking into a watch store knowing I am not going to buy anything from them because I truly enjoy the service and price I get from the trusted sellers here.

If you can wait and save for the EXPII, that is what I would do. If you can't, then really the only thing to do is try on the EXPII and make a decision based on the one that sings to you.
If it were me, I would take the EXPII over the sub any day of the week. Why? Because subs are a dime a dozen and the EXPII is a much more unique piece IMO. I own both a DSSD and a polar 42mm EXPII and if I had to keep just one, it would be the EXPII. I had the old version and it is one of the only watches I ever missed after I sold it. You can't go wrong with either and again get the one that makes you smile the most |

I would flip it. The Explorer II is a real standout, the only thing that comes close to it on the market is the GMT IIc, which is sufficiently different in its execution to make a decision relatively easy. The Sub C is not one of the best watches in Rolex's lineup, and looks extremely overpriced and underspec'd against its competition now - it's certainly no classic

I'm not a Sub C fan, and I've flipped about 30 watches in the last 10 years so you can guess what I'm going to say...

If you can't get both, then get the one that you will wear most and enjoy. Both will be around for a very long time.

I had the SubC, flipped it to get an EXP II. Needless to say I went back to the SubC after just 2 weeks.
It fits me a bit better, and I simply missed it after getting the EXP. Do not get me wrong I loved the EXP II, but I prefer a Sub in my life. |

If saving isn't an option I would do it having owned both the 116610 and 116710. The 216570 is the best flip I ever made.
Although I will say that if you can save you will have a white face and black face. If you're a one watch guy I would probably opt for the black 216570 as that's what I have. |

Agree with all those that said keep the sub and save for the Polar ExpII. I did that myself and love both watches. I wear each for a week then swap. Love the contrast between the black and white dials. Both are great watches and I can't decide which I like most. Certainly wouldn't flip the sub after such a short time.

Ya I guess I will be keeping the sub for the time being I really do love the watch. It fits perfectly and the bracelet and clasp are awesome. Hopefully in 2-3 years I will be posting an incoming thread for the polar exp =)
