I regularly drink the black label. Blue is on hand for special occasions. I did pick a bottle of the double black which I like, it has a more smokey flavor.

Wow, have prices gone up.
Green used to be about $50 and Gold was $60. They're $70 and $90 now. I wonder if getting a bottle of Green is worth it? I am not a drinker, but I like to have the odd bottle in my collection. How does Green or Gold compare to the other selections? For the price of buying a Green bottle and a Gold bottle, I can buy one Blue bottle. What would you drinkers rather have? 1 blue, or 1 Green and Gold? |

Green is hands down the best of the JW's. The single malt blend has so much more character to it. Blue is just a terribly over priced blend, black is pretty meh and the red is, well, gross.
May I ask, if you're not going to drink it, why buy it? If you're going to spend money on Scotch Whisky, go with the single malts. That being said, I'd go with JW Green over Old Pulteney any day. Well, time for some Caol Ila. Quote:

So your ranking is Green, then Gold, then Blue, then Black, then Red? |

I was just picking up some 18 YO Glenmorangie and I noticed cases of JW Green on a clearance sale. Not even on a shelf. Just cases stacked on the floor.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362698193.633166.jpg I bought the 18 YO instead, for $98.97 with the $0.10 bottle deposit included. |

That's always a great idea... The Green is a nice blend, the blue is good, but not $240/btl good. If price were no issue: Blue, Green, Black, Gold and just leave the Red at the store.

If money were no object : Green, blue, black, red. If it were my money: green, black, red. I won't buy blue. It's too expensive for what it is. It's not bad just not $175 good. |

Not a fan of blue at all. For that price would rather get a very nice single malt. Double Black is pretty good, however, Green trumps all in terms of value/product quality.

Wow Winston, that price is just nuts...that's over twice as much as it is here (just picked up a bottle last night).

I'm convinced that Canadians pay MORE for EVERYTHING.
We only have GST as a tax in my province (Alberta) and it's 5%. Everywhere else in Canada, it's 5% plus the provincial tax, so you could be adding anywhere from 5% to 15% to everything you buy, depending on where you live. |

Green consists entirely of single malt whisky, four different ones. All the other JW varieties, including Blue, are blends of malt whisky and grain alcohol.
