IMHO, hublot is still try to find their identity because they are still new in the industry, while AP already exist long long time ago. but in 20 years, who know hublot can be in the same leauge with AP

being a hardcore AP fan, I have to admit that Ive warmed up to the brand, despite my criticisms below lol
Yes its an AP derivative design, quality not in the same ballpark, parts outsourced from the cheapest bidder, the movement is generic and cheap, but at the end of the day it gives many people what they want at a price point they can afford compared something equivalent from AP that would cost 2-3x as much. |

I've got my eye on that watch too. Just seems like the ROO's drop in value fairly quick when compared to the more traditional styles. I keep waiting for DavidSW or one of the forum sellers to have one for sale.

I'll sum it up after everyone's comments. Why would someone even dare to compare Audemars Piguet and Hublot???
Audemars Piguet is part of the holy trinity of watchmaking and a brand that changed the course of history in watchmaking. Hublot has been around for a while but their brand essence has been transformed to become the AP wannabe brand catering mainly to the 'nouveau rich'. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Watches are the new currency!

With all due respect to the OP it's a sham to compare the house of Audemars Piguet to Hublot.
The guy in charge of Hublot has made a facsimile of a RO/Offshore and hasn't tried to create a new watch and sales- he's tried to steal sales and ride on the back of the RO and Offshore. When people ask me about Audemars Piguet and Hublot I always give this analogy: You know in The Fly with Jeff Goldblum when he's testing his transportation machine? He transports a steak and the gorgeous Geena Davis tastes it and says it tastes synthetic? That's Hublot. Synthetic. Stick to Audemars Piguet. It's a better investment and it has history and pedigree and get's respect. You won't have people sniggering behind your back if you wear one. .

Uh oh, there's one in the classified section right now. LNIB for 15.6K. Seems like a fair price. I see if you scuffs on the bracelet but otherwise looks good. If anybody else has a chance to check out, I'd be encouraged to your feedback. I'm kind of a newbie with this.

There's something that I really don't like about Hublot. The design, although similar to AP just doesn't look good. In my opinion Hublot watches look like a cheap 'cousin' of the Offshore. - people complain about the number of variants with the Offshore - they should compare that to AP.

Im an AP man through and through but Ive got to hand it to Biver, who I think rates his accomplishment with Hublot, conceding himself that it is a pure fashion/look at me Ive made it brand as his highest accomplishment over Omega and BP. He personally designed the All Black, twice telling his watchmaker to make it even blacker when the samples came back to him, and tho Im not a great fan of the watch I appreciate its uniqueness and individuality.
I do like the Ice Bang however, tungsten bezel, grey and black lines, a cool combination, and I dont think the Big Bangs and the octagonal ROOs look similar at all. The BBs look more like a Nautilus to me with the ears, and I think both look aesthetically pleasing. And would love to see pics of the MH too... but we'll see... |

While I would certainly pick and AP over a Hublot ANY DAY, lets be honest that the secondary market is certainly not kind on the ROO. A BNIB Navy from an AD is $25k. you can find it on the secondary market for $16k. Granted Hublot isn't exactly retaining its value either.
In the recent past, AP cranked out how many ROO LE? change a few colors on the dial and BAM...NEW LE!! It was like a new LE every week? For every athlete, boutique, iconic road, races, etc! The LEs were no longer really LEs anymore. talk about cheapening the brand. Take the brand off its pedestal since its been around so long. |

Hublot to AP is like Michael Kors to Rolex......very popular but a blatant rip off and no where near the same standard!!
