FYI- I brought both of my Rolexes into Shreve to get them looked at today. They are an AD and a certified Rolex "repair shop". They share the same space with the RSC in S.F. Anyway, they look at the watch(es) first and then make recommendations before taking any action. Anyway, "repairs" and "tune-up'" can go from a few hundred to a thousand. They want to get the go ahead first. I would like my glow restored but I'll double-check before I let them do anything.

It's a personal decision. So many people are obsessed with resale value and others want the best possible watch for use now. I guess I'll have to decide if I want my circa 1990's Sub with a weak lume or a tuned up Sub with a new face and bright lume. Same deal, it's the 1st Rolex I ever owned. I don't think I'll ever sell it. My others, I don't have the same emotional attachment to.
