The tool watch ExpII may fit your day to day lifestyle more, but as others have pointed out, the DJ is a timeless classic, and one which will fit the bill better for the major life events - christenings, anniversaries, graduations - you will share with your wife. Each time you put it on for one of those events, your wife will be happy. You can always add the ExpII later - it isn't going anywhere soon. |

I much prefer the DJ to the Explorer 2, but that's me. I think looking at the models in person will make all the difference for you.

If you are going to wear everyday...the EXP will hold up better...meaning less polished SS, bezel and center links to get scratched up.
If you plan on wearing in rotation with other watches then the DJ II should suit you fine, b/c the smooth bezel is less dressy than the fluted bezel. Is the DSSD even a consideration? Try one on if you have a chance |

Finally a Rolex owner. My wife bought me the Explorer II black face as a X-Mas/birthday/anniversary gift. Love it so far. Took a little while to figure out how to set the time and second time zone. A little different than other watches I've owned.

I love the new ExII in black. Much more wearable than the white IMO.

Another vote for exp2. Sports watches hold their value better in general. That being said the dj2 has better resale value than 36 mm by far.
At the end buy what you like. If you are an older individual 50-60's I'd go DJ2. Nidal |

Oh dear. Starting next year, I'm going to be an "older individual". *Sigh.

The decision is over. We went Explorer II. Most likely pick up the Datejust in the future. Feeling the Rolex love right now. Thanks for all of your advise guys on helping me decide.

Congrats, excellent choice. I, like yourself, dress casual 90% of the time, the explorer works flawlessly.

For daily using and as one watch for all perposes - EXP II.
EXP II is more practical watch, second timezone, satin polished case including braslet, protruding sapphire! I prefer polar 216570. |
