Pliers are the only way to straighten it. Not worth it. It's crooked, deal. LOL.

In the last two pics, what is the significance of those 3 dots which are different in size?

There are different arrangements for the SS/YG crown, the White Gold crown, and the Platinum crown.

You can't change the factory position , ask to your AD when changing the crown to try to have it lined up, it possible , it's just a question of time...

Sure..
Three equal sized dots under the crown is a SS/YG Triplock crown, a single large dot in the center is a WG Triplock crown, and two large outer dots would be a platinum Triplock crown.. Keeping in mind that some WG or Plat trimmed models come with a SS crown...

I've only just seen this thread. You guys seem to have it sorted, but I thought I'd throw in my comments, for what they're worth. Larry's early thread was correct - any screw system can only line-up according to where the screw leads start. Something like that Rolex crown could be either a single or a double lead screw. If it were a double lead that would give you two possibilities, 180 deg apart, but I'm sure that it's a single lead, because the crown on mine ALWAYS ends up in the same orientation. With a double lead there would be a 50:50 chance of the crown being 180 deg either way.
Following servicing/renewal, crowns do slowly 'migrate' clockwise with time but, contrary to an earlier post, this isn't due to thread wear, it's due to the seals slowly compressing, allowing the crown to screw down a tiny bit further each time, until the seals are fully packed. The post detailing the crown symbols is very interesting - mine's got the little line, so now I know what it means! Oh, and gha - love your suggestion! Stan. |
