An alternative would be the DJ II with white gold bezel or the Yachtie I with platinum bezel. Both are lower-key than the TT's but subtly classy. That said, the TT's are, imo, great watches. I particularly like the black bezel GMT.

Get what you like...F the so called the "Fashion experts"
Yeah over the years Yellow gold comes and goes in and out of "style" but a TT Rolex for the most part will always be Classic I used to have a couple TT (DJ and Blue Sub), at the time a friend of mine had 2 SS Rolex's (DJ and YM) and he made comments on how mine were out of stye and joked back with him as well. In my mind at the time and for 8 years later I thought my 2 watches were better looking than his. ....but I stopped liking it...so I switched to SS... But that is me....I still see plenty of people wearing TT DJ's Sub's and I think they look good "on them". Saw a guy about month ago with TT GMTc...it looked awesome on him. If you like the look of TT don't worry about what others think |

Two tone was invented for a DJ with jubilee bracelet ,imho, - that's why its the only two tone I own.

I think there is a perception that two-tone is:
a) an old man's look; b) for people who can't afford all gold. Personally I would love a two-tone 36mm DJ with jubilee bracelet, fluted bezel, and champagne stick dial, but I'd prefer an all yellow gold version even better for dress, and a stainless steel sub for every day. If you only have one, two-tone is a good compromise, but ideally stainless for every day, and all gold for best makes sense. |

I remember a lot of TT pieces as a kid (90s), and they seem less popular now. But, when you look at what is popular in the watch world, I say its a good thing. There are a lot of atrocities out there these days. In 10 years they will be gone. But the TT, like now, will still be there IMO.

I'm 25 and just got a dj2 tt, IMO tt is not dated or out of style. It's just beautiful lol.. I also feel that it has no reflection on weather the person could or couldn't afford an all gold watch. The ss in tt still keeps it sporty and less flashy than all gold

& btw 90% of those fashion blog YouTube people look like fools IMO. If what they are pushing & wearing is the new style I guess I'm very very out of style esp for a 25yr old

Not surprisingly, the two tone watches Rolex makes, they do very well. Older and newer TT Sports models and DJ's look and feel amazing. My first watch was a TT DJ, and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for it. My bluesy will be with me till the end.

Rolex has been making two tone watches for 80+ years. Apparently there is a market.
I think the two tone blue dial sub is one of the best looking watches ever made. The current two tone GMT's are beautiful. Not a huge Datejust fan in any metal. It's raining here. Now where is my Members Only jacket? |

Absolutely agree with you, Ray. The TT Blue Sub looks fantastic. Even more amazing, when you think you can wear it to a smart bash, as well as on the reef! :-)

I think certain Rolex models look great in two-tone, but there's no denying that it goes against the current fashion grain.
Yellow gold wedding bands used to be commonplace. My grandfather wore one. My father wears one. Many of the married men I know who are my father's age wear one. I wear a platinum band, and most of my married friends who are in my same age group either wear platinum or white gold. In general, I see very few wearing yellow gold jewelry of any kind. Fashion trends change, but if someone likes the look of a particular watch, then they should go for it. Two-tone wouldn't be my first choice, but I have seen some that I really liked.

I have always been a guy that likes to wear watches that are somewhat unique even within a given line.
My 116613 is no exception. |

Show me a guy who says that a TT Rolex is only for those that can't afford all gold and I'll show you a guy who has an SS model because he can't afford a TT.
While obviously that comment is in jest, my point is that blanket statements like that are rarely true of the vast majority. Certainly a few may "settle" for the TT because the all gold is way out of reach, but the same is true for the SS v. TT situation. But it's still doubtful they would buy it if they didn't like the two tone better than the stainless model. It's like the theory that anyone who likes the old 5 digit Subs better than the newer 6 digit ceramics are just saying that because they have an older one and resent the fact that their watch now looks dated. There may be a few in this category but by and large it is simply a matter of individual taste. I've had more compliments by young men in their 20's on my 116713 in the short time I've owned it than of any watch I've owned. So as far as being out of date, go to an AD and throw a TT GMT on your wrist, then get back to me.

You're asking for trouble saying that here! For the vast majority of people, I agree with you but there are still a few genuine die hard fans of the older ones.

BTW, I own a 16610 and absolutely love it. No desire to trade it in on a 116610 at all. I like both for what they are. Disaster averted, I hope.

To me, regardless what is on the fashion scene, the two-tone and jubilee bracelets are Rolex identity and they never be out of fashion.

99.999% of the people I have met in my life who can not afford A or B, will always have something negative to say about A or B .... and those who say negatively about A or B, can not afford A or B ..
