I think you can get a BNIB for $40K from a trusted seller.

Saw a new one at the boutique in Bal Harbour a few weeks ago... but you're not looking at much of a discount there.

Long waiting list for this piece in the Toronto area.

My AD bought it up from South America and got it for about 10% off. Worked for me because I was considering purchasing even at the former $60K+ price :)

I don't think Ceramic on the bezel is supposed to do any of the above. if its a surface scratch you can generally just get it out with an eraser or a shirt and some elbow grease. "nick" or "dent" wouldn't happen...maybe a "chip" but that is still highly unlike i think.

Mine is about one month old and I have a little nick in the bezel. Not on the edge either but in the middle of one of the polished facets. Got a little mark in the gold nearby, I evidently poked it up against something.

EDIT: hmm, correction, a bunch of rubbing has removed the mark. So whatever it was I hit left itself on the bezel rather than marring it.

Some grey market guys advertise prices around $40k but nobody ever seems to have them in stock. So I'd take it at this price, you can always replace the bezel if you're really worried about it.

Also I will confirm that it's extremely difficult to get one. Mine took many emails to various countries and physical searching in a few cities.

I got a lot of promises of getting access to the next one they see / try again in a month but only ever saw one I could get, so I got it.

Thanks Guys, I have bit the bullet and negotiated a price of 36K using the nick as a bargaining chip. Pun intended.

The watch is in great shape and has a date of 2012 so still under warranty. If I do want to replace the bezel, which I don't think I will I am still at $38500, which is good in my book.

Will receive the watch Tuesday and will post pics at once. Thanks to all for taking the time & saving me 4K. I love TRF !

Unless you're worried about future resale value, why not? His math seems sound to me; even replacing the bezel he's still under what he could get the watch LNIB.

Sam, as you've already taken the plunge, I hope it all works out fine. I'd be inclined to send it in to AP to obviously replace the bezel but more importantly to have the movement checked out to ensure no damage has been done there as well. A little peace of mind for you.

Congrats! I sold mine recently, and regret it!

Just wondering, if a concussion that is strong enough to cause the nick on the bezel, actually has already damaged the movement. Will AP still be responsible to service it even under warranty? Because the nick/ding on the bezel can be used as an evidence that the watch has suffered a collision of some sort.

Saving a few bucks wouldn't be worth buying a watch that was subjected to a force intense enough to chip the bezel, IMO. Who knows what potential issues could crop up years down the road. The watch is damaged goods... Plus, the AD strikes me as creepy, selling it at that price with that kind of damage, but that is a separate issue...

If the watch goes in and the movement is damaged it will not be covered by warranty. The bezel will be subjected to scrutiny and they will deem it dropped or cause of physical damage, I say wear it as is and that's it. Don't send it to AP.
