Semantics are clearly your forte, and in such a match up I confess that I'm severely outgunned.

Enjoy your walk, but be careful not to miss the forest for the trees. Oh yeah:

Adam

PS - Really, Nishant? That was about as piss-poor an argument as they come, IMO. Frankly, I'm surprised that you're not able to see it as such.

Sometimes is it important to recognise the trees so that we don't get lost in the forest. Like... getting lost in the advertising gimmicks, and made to believe in something that is not.

Seconds hand wins it for 15400; with it on Jumbo it may be a closer contest.

For me the second hands ruins the look of the 15400 n 15300 as the original RO jumbo is very clean look without the second hand I think it makes it iconic and unique even a little quirky

Second hand is more at home on a manual wind to confirm that watch is operating.... If watch is an automatic & a classic design, i dont really see the point... Of course second hands are included on most, but i think it is special to have this option without.

As it was mentioned earlier...
Porsche 911 evolved over the years the result were some hit the mark & some deviated too much.... As an example, some feel it was true to its origins up until it became water cooled, then it became something different, also good but not the same.

Both are great watches but the 15202 DOMINATES the 15400 in all the right ways. I too found the dial of the 15400 to be a bit out of proportion and unbalanced as there is too much negative space on the dial. Also the placement of the font bothered me on the watch... esp after comparing it to the 15202. At first I thought the 41 mm size was welcome but after owning it for a few months I grew tired of it quickly as the 15202 really caught my eye.

I happen to really enjoy how you change the date on the 15202 and see that as a cool little touch verse the standard quick set date found on the 15400.

15400

15202

And this is where the 15202 REALLY shines over the 15400

This

VS...

All in all both are great watches but the availability and MUCH higher price make the 15400 more affordable but the 15202 is just so special.... Get one at a discount while you can before it becomes boutique only.

I like not having second hands... forces me to either stare at the minute hand to ascertain that it's moving or flip the watch (clear back) to stare at the balance wheel. Either way, I get to stare at my watch more.

The 15202 is exactly what it is, namely an homage to the original 'Jumbo', hence the reason that it is still referred to reverently as a Jumbo. It's not an advertising gimmick, it's just a fact, and whether or not one chooses to buy one has less to do with advertising, of which there is little to none, and everything to do with a desire on the part of the owner to hew to the original formula. To deny that the continued use of the 2121 movement, or the recent return to the petite tapissiere dial and AP logo at 6 o'clock doesn't further this association relative to the new super-sized 15400 is nothing more than willful ignorance. Yes, the 15400 also looks like a Jumbo, but unlike the 15202, it isn't meant to be. Why? Because they already sell one. By your argument, a Cayenne is as much an homage to the original 911 as the current 911.

Oh yeah:

Adam

And the current 911 isn't even called the 911 anymore.

it certainly is, what got you confused is probably 991 which marks present 911 series, predecessor of 991 was 997 then 996 then 993 and so on

No confusion. The last "real" 911 was the 3.2 carrera, largely because it was the same car for 20+ years. The 964-991 have used different reference numbers, as they each represented a significant change.

Was trying more to make a joke than to split hairs. Love me some P cars!!

Sorry the seconds hand is a must for me, will not buy a watch without it. Classic/original design or not, must have it.

I found them both irresistible. More differences than similarities, especially the way they feel on your wrist.

This to me is the true royal oak - no second hands, the 39mm size, the ultra thin original movement 2121, the deep blue color of te dial that changes as it catches the light .. Sublime
