Spider Web Dials Can a Movement be repaired or cleaned out if the dial flakes into movement ?

I see them as just another defect along with Tropical and Cream dials. However, the cracking just isn't as subjectively pretty to the majority. The only spider dial I'd go for is a Tiffany & Co dial 5513, or something similar.
