Do you have equal links removed on both sides. Does it sit centered on both sides, watch head on top and the clasp on the bottom.
Then make adjustments with the Glidelock so it fits snug above the wrist bone(preferably), unless you like it dangling....

One of the beauties of the Sub is that while substantial enough to remind you its there, it is not a 'heavy' watch by any means.

My Two-Tone Datejust on SJ bracelet weighs in at 131 grams and seems heavy if switching in from a vintage Seiko on a bracelet at 70 gram neighborhood or light leather strapped quartz around 30 grams, but seems featherweight when moving off my Bulova Precisionist at 226 grams !

I tried on the new Maxi Case Sub-C (without date) today at a Rolex AD and it felt about the same as my Datejust in terms of wrist feel.

Weight took almost no time to get used to, and I was wearing my Breitling Aerospace often prior to buying my first Sub which is a very light watch (titanium). Over time, I have noticed that it sits slightly high...doesn't bother me too much but if you try that on and it gets to you, take a look at a GMT Master II.

I wore a 36mm datejust for 30 years before my SubC. Honestly i never noticed either one either for weight or for height.

I'm very sensitive to 'watch weight', yet find I hardly notice my 14060M. Plus it's just so comfortable to wear which helps :-)

Subc is fairly light as Ive had an AP Diver, DSSD and Breitling chronomat and the 16610 is positively light.

That is so true. I tried that as my first Rolex and exchanged it a couple of days later for a Sub.

You certainly do get used to the weight of the sub and I don't feel right without in on my wrist now...and no, when it is properly fitted the watch stays centered on top of your wrist with no problems! The perfect sports watch IMHO!

Wore a Tag, then a early 90's Sector dive watches before the Sub so the weight of my Sub actually felt "normal". I don't however know that I would call it heavy.

I wouldn't call it heavy, but when you pick it up, you feel the solid build quality (call it heft). Maybe that is what the OP meant.

But again, it's all comparable. I was wearing a titanium Fortis B-42 prior and certainly noticed the "heft".

My 16610 sub doesn't feel heavy at all to me. Very comfy as a matter of fact.

My first nice watch was a Ti Seamaster chronograph. My second was a PAM 91. I wanted to buy a Rolex, but every time I tried a Submariner on I was underwhelmed. Fast forward a few years, and I tried a SD on. I wound up buying that one. I love it, and now I'm dying for a no date SubC. The extra heft compared to the older Subs is nice IMHO.

One side seems to have more links than the other could that be the issue ?

As has been stated, all depends what your reference point is.

Coming from a Tag quartz chronograph, my 116610 feels significantly lighter.

Yes it could be, but it depends on what you consider tight. You're watch should be comfortable to wear.
I wear mine very snug, above the wrist bone, with just enough slack to slide down over it towards my hand, then I shake it back up. Not even enough room to fit a pinky but that's me, it's comfortable like that, to me.

Never perceived Subs as heavy watches. As for new and old, I alternate between 16610 and 116610LN often without ever noticing the weight difference.
