Haha. Let's not get carried away! But I find it interesting that no one disputes the Speedmaster. I don't own one (yet) but I hope to sometime next year. The fun is putting them on the list and slowly marking them off. I also think that if a Heuer is on the list it should be the Monaco. Seeing Ken's '70 1133B convinced me.

I agree with the list, although I would remove the carerra and the IWC then switch it to Heuer Monaco and zenith El Primero...

Own "5" and "1"....had "3" and "2" at one time...flipped. Never been a fan of the Tag.

The Lange Datograph is my favorite chrono, my grail chrono, which I sadly will never own. The Patek is also amazing but is only about 3 years old. It is hard to say that watches this young and costing over $80,000 each can be icons. But you sir, have very fine tastes.

For me the most iconic chrono is a Longines with a 13ZN movement. Sophistication and beauty!!!!

I agree about Speedmaster as number one. The rest is up for debate.

If #5 is IWC, might as well put in ANY chronograph with the 7750 Valjoux movement. The standards have been lowered. #4 should be replaced with the Monaco, that is the ONLY model that truly represents Heuer.

And is on my wrist right now--vintage Heuer at it's best and iconic as it gets!

iwc has no business there. tag, breitling and movado was the group to combine to make the chrono auto.
and zenith should be there too tied with that group |

It's always great to evaluate designs in terms of historical context. The Calibre 11/12 automatic chronograph movement in the Breitlings/Hamiltons/Heuers is fantastic. Whether it was the absolute first auto-chrono movement doesn't matter that much to me, some forty years later. If you compare this movement to the Valjoux 7750, the 7750 is not as elegant: thick, sturdy, reliable, boring. It's a workhorse, but has no romance, no matter what brand you put it in. The El Primero is amazing! Have you ever listened to one of those? Manic! And, if properly tuned, it's more accurate than some quartz watches. So, if you're going to compare chronographs, stick to the movements: the look may be iconic, but it's the heart that matters.
