Icon20 Lange Datograph Up Down - Pink Gold

Need your wise advice before making a big purchase...

Again, trying to add to my collection & to celebrate my 40th bday. Already own Patek 5712/1a and Rolex DSSD (Blue face).

Was originally set on purchasing a Patek 5164R. Still think it is a great one to own. But then - I came across the Lange Datograph Up Down in pink gold. I have only read the amazing reviews and seen incredible pics but have never come across this watch in person.

Anyone own or have seen one in person? What are your detailed thoughts?

AND

Thoughts on Datograph vs Patek 5164R would be most appreciated. Only have a week to decide!

Many thanks.

Between those two I'd go for the datograph but they really are completely different other than the material.

My hesitation with the dato up/down is that it is very big and the case is quite thick. But since you have a dssd this may not be an issue. For me with 6.5in wrists it's too big personally.

Don't rush yourself, these pieces are quite available generally. Don't give yourself a week to decide on such a purchase or you could end up unhappy. The hunt is all part of the fun after all.

New ALS owner!

Just got this! I love it. Thinking about flipping my YG SkyDweller, Hulk, and White dial SS Daytona for a Zeitwerk. What do the ALS owners out there think? Thanks!

That's a beautiful watch. I love the caseback for that model, too. My wrists are too small for it, unfortunately so it's awesome it fits yours well.

I love the Zeitwerk. Also another watch I wish I could own, but it just looks too big for my wrists. However, it's still a grail watch for me.

I personally like the Skydweller a lot (another watch I wish I had but it's too big for my wrist), however, given an option, I'd totally trade all 3 for the Zeitwerk. That watch is just an extremely unique watch with an amazing movement. Definitely a work of art.

However, all 3 watches you're thinking of trading in are completely different from the Zeitwerk. Are you very attached to them?

I like each of them but they sit in the watch winder. So I figured with the SS Rolex market so hot two of them I could get good prices. I have a YG DD40 so I don’t use SkyDweller much.

If that's the case, then if you think you'll wear the Zeitwerk more often or enjoy its company more then I'd say go for the trade up route. At least you still have a daily Rolex to enjoy, too. If you were going to give up all your Rolexes then I'd say no.

New strap

Found an IWC strap on Ebay for my Dato. Many thanks to Edwin, the old Lange moderator on Timezone. I sure miss that guy.

Happy Friday!

Regards,
Definitely a fair price. I recently got my 2006 101.032 for a similar price from my AD.

Unfortunately the brand has been "discovered." The results of the May 27-28 Phillips Hong Kong auction were pretty nuts!

Indeed - the difference between last year's HWK / Lumen results and now is pretty crazy though!
