I had same issue with GP and hence pulled trigger on Schumacher due to its versatility.
I think both the RG and Schumacher are equally good choices at this point. |

I had the same dilemma, I went with Schumi Ti at the end.
You got to see the Schumi in person to decide, I have them side by side. no doubt RG is gorgeous, great piece. But the Schumi while has a bigger pusher, it has more details to admire over time, and the metal combination is unforgettable once u saw it So I would suggest you go see both of them in real before deciding Both of them are great |

If you like the Schumi and you like RG you could have gone with the RG Schumi.

That is definitely a matter of opinion, and in my opinion the Schumi Ti is a better investment, more versatile, and nicer...

Both amazing pieces -
I agree, RG schumi would have been a common denominator. |

The RG 44mm is a great choice. I don't think I would consider any Limited AP a solid investment.
I like to look at the facts over the hype a brand creates. The fact is, Gold is gold and Ti is well, not gold.. Why pay the price for gold on something that is not gold, unless it is something that you love and have to have, then the sentimental value would mean more to you over material value. In the end, I think if you can afford to make these kinds of choices on these high caliber watch brands, go with what you like. You seemed to love both watches and in the end, you went with what made the most sense to you. I personally own a 44mm novelty myself and I think it is timeless. A keeper for the long run for sure. IMO LE AP's with larger more crazy designs are beautiful for sure but the style can look dated in the years to come. Which is why I take all of these things into account before spending this kind of money on a watch. If I was a billionaire, I would own them all Congrats on a spectacular watch and wear it in the best of health. |

I personally don't like to bank on anything just because it's LE, although a special few have gone up in value from their original retail price which is a huge +. If I love the watch, then I will buy it no question as the production number on the case back is cool to have, but it doesn't really sway me either way when deciding to pull the trigger on said watch. Personally for me, I prefer more timeless designs vs the more over the top designs for a daily watch. AP spent a long time re designing the 44mm novelty roo as they have chosen this to be their new model for the long run. Don't get me wrong, I love some LE AP's such as the shumi, RB II, end of days, survivor, and of course my favorite the T3 black dial. I love them for their originality and special details, not for their lower production numbers (although it does add a coolness factor). I purchased a legacy last year and had it for 2 days and decided to return it in exchange for a 44mm RG novelty. I loved the look of the legacy regardless if it was less popular than other LE pieces. In the end, Not only did the size bother me for daily wear as the ceramic crown dug into the top of my wrist, but I also didn't want to justify spending that kind of money on ceramic, when I could have solid 18k pink gold watch as well as a watch that was more appropriately sized for daily wear. I for one love AP for their LE model's. I can't wait to see what they will come up with next. I just wish they would slow down on the amount of different limited editions they make, because to me, it makes them a little less special. To make an example about LE watches and a company I think overkills it, Hublot (not saying AP is anything like Hublot at all) But Hublot makes so many LE watches, IMO I don't think any of Hublots watches are that special as a LE model because they make so many different watches and call them all LE. Hublot has made a couple watches in the 300k price range that I just love, but that is on a different level of watch horology. I do wish AP would slow down just a bit so when they do Launch a new LE model, it will be even more special. That way, they could avoid some of the duds they have launched. If they slowed down. Even if they launched a watch that would normally be considered a dud as far as sales and collectability, it would still IMO sell because the hype they created around the slow production of said LE model, people would want it just because it's hard to get. I feel that would help the brand for the future. Just my 2 cents on the matter. I hope the new CEO will get the brand back into shape with some of the changes he's making. (back on topic) When only choosing one watch for daily use, I myself would try to think about more of a practical model, over more of a "fun" oversized model design, or one with a crazy color theme. This of course is all my opinion and not fact. Not about one watch being better then another because all AP's are excellent, just about which watch would better suit you for the cause. |
