If I was to buy a TT I would still buy the sunburst as it is beautiful, but its not top of my list now.

Almost think the sunburst TT sub is becoming unpopular.
you have those that only like the older TT subs, now you have those that only like the smurf blue TT sub, who is actually left to admire Rolex's new offering? Oh, that is right.... the rest of the world. But seriously I think it is kinda cool there is the variation, sorta like the purple dials of the past. I bet is the smurf WILL become sought after in 10-15 years, but still sunburst for me when I buy. Like I said before, buy/wear what you like. |

Personally I think people should care less of dollar values (what it will be now or in the future).....They should wear what suit them the best (like what others say "sing most"). Either way...burst or no burst....NOTHING BEAT THE BLUE (IMHO though...) |

I wholeheartedly agree...the original blue and ceramic is far nicer. Had them both out to view recently and the new sunburst dial just doesn't match at all IMHO.

My understanding is the Smurf is still available only in the flat blue dial. No choice of the cobalt SB blue dial at this point in time.

But I guess I misunderstood you. I suppose you meant you're glad you went ahead and got the WG Sub rather than waiting for the TT or YG to come out with the sunburst dial. I just didn't think this is what you meant because you could have waited to see what the other models looked like with the new dial since the WG would still have been available with the flat blue.

My dad got an LB new from an AD last January. I feel a little bad that his watch is now "the old model". Sunburst dials are pretty cool

The new issue YG has the sunburst dial.
I like it. The flat blue just looks a little too plain. I'm sure we'd probably agree that if the bezel was in better sync with the dial, the sunburst would be much more favored. |

I owned the TT with Smurf dial, and sold it when I purchased the WG sub. I was visiting my AD today and he had a TT Sub with the new dial in the display case. I much prefer the Smurf dial.

Don't feel too bad. In the scheme of things his will probably prove more rare.

Go black TT and never look back. Do you really want a watch nicknamed The smurf?

In "forum speak", what do we call (nickname) the bluey/purple dial from the early/mid 1990's?
Thanks, Bob. |

For sure the Sunburst is not for everybody. In my case I prefer the MOP dials as they constantly change their color and why I chose the Sunburst dial. For me it is not important that the bezel matches the dial. It depends on the light.

I go the dark/Tahitian mother of pearl for my watches...I love to have the different color of dial depending on the light....which is why I went with the yacht master instead of the sub.....that saying....the smurf sub looks so much better.....and "the deep blue" combo looks great....if you like the sunburst go old school.....new ceramic doesn't match IMHO....

I stopped by an AD yesterday that had both the flat and sunburst dials. I got to compare them side by side. The sunburst dial made the dial and watch appear smaller. I know it was an optical illusion, but it was very noticeable. It wasn't just me, the sales woman thought it appeared smaller as well.
