Dallas marathon that was supposed to take place today was canceled. I had a friend who was supposed to run it along with 25,000 others. Bummer that they didn't get to run their race after months of training.

I have multiple customers who trained all year for it. It's a bummer for sure.

Dallas drivers seem to forget everything about how to drive a car once any kind of snow hits the ground.

With that said, and all jokes aside, we had a really bad ice storm here in Dallas over the past few days and thousands of households in half a dozen counties in the metropex were left without electrical power. Some for days. When the temperature outside drops to the teens, not a good situation to be in. According to local news reports, a total of 267.000 power outages.

The weight of the ice destroyed power grids and many trees broke, damaging property and blocking streets.

Sheets of ice fell from buildings and destroyed cars.

DFW airport was essentially shut down with planes stuck in the ice on runways while trying to make it to the gate and passengers had to be moved by bus. 1900 flights were canceled.

It took me one hour on Saturday to cover a distance of 7 miles. The road was an absolute ice rink. (average of three inches of ice on the roads)

Schools are still closed today but with the temperature finally going above freezing, they should be open again tomorrow.

Your right Chip. It's a lot worse here than people realize. My mother has been without power in her Irving home since Thursday night. Saturday I went and picked here and my step dad up and got them into a hotel. Their power is still out today.

18 wheelers are still stuck on Interstate - 20 delaying food and other deliveries to local businesses. It's a mess. We are all ready for the big thaw!

Sun is finally back out some here. It was really bad this weekend, my brother and his friends were here for his bachelor party. Scheduling it in Dallas in September for early December seemed like a great idea at the time. It was really disappointing that the worst weather we have had in 3 years occurred THIS weekend.

I am sorry to hear about your mother being without power for that long, it's not something I wish to anyone. Cold aside, I would have gone NUTS without TV and Internet. Actually, I went nuts with cabin fever anyway! Glad to hear you were able to get her to a nice warm place.

Considering that it was 81 degrees just a day before this hit... who could have predicted this? It's what sucks about TX. Cannot predict weather, you can only report.



Yup... we are in Frisco and were lucky, no power outage. However, we have broken trees all over the place and just yesterday I witnessed a huge sheet of ice fall of an apartment complex and hitting parked cars.

One of the trees in front of our house is really struggling with the weight of the ice and I am surprised it has not broken yet.

I am not a wus when it comes to driving in snow but after three days indoors I was going absolutely nuts and I had to get out for a bit. The roads here in Frisco were horrible and people were sliding all over the place. Had to go to the grocery store and most produce (what was left) was going bad.

I am ready for everything to get back to normal.

On a different note, since you guys are local, let me know if you ever want to meet up for a beer!

It so happens that my wife's Fiat 500 needs a tint. The dealer wanted too much money for it.

It was, everyone was fired up. Even I, as a giants fan (born and raised in north jersey), got engulfed in it (the free beer in the suite helps too)

I played Golf at a course in Northern NJ last summer. Bowling Green, nice course. Beautiful part of the country.

This Sunday, not a cloud in the sky, and a nice 63 degrees. Got to love Texas!
