Write MJ and tell them your story and send in a copy of your purchase receipt they may give you a new pair at a discounted price . I've had excellent customer service from them, free glasses, cheap replacement lenses and my wife received a new pair for free as well.

My Cartier pair is definitely the most comfortable for casual\dress pair that I own. Usually the ear or nose pieces on most glasses\sunglasses tend to bug me, but not on this pair.
The Oakley pair I own for bicycling are also real comfortable as well. But these really are more geared for sport. However my Gucci pair tend to get the most compliments and have the biggest lenses except for my Oakley pair. I also own a couple of Ray bans as well.

Gotta go with the Mauis. I have a pair of Maui Jim Atolls and also some Costa Tripletails. Doing the optometrist "better/worse" one pair on, then switch test, the Maui Jims are clearly the superior lenses. Admittedly, all of this comes down to individual preferences. Only you can decide that. But based on the survey so far.....

I've had my Persols for nine years, now, and have never had any problems. Got them on clearance for $79. And they were originally $289. Sunglass Hut annual clearance.

Did Persol quality tank in the last few years? I went to go buy some 649s today and I couldn't believe how flimsy they felt. I do not remember Persol being like this. My Wayfarers are half the price, but feel twice as nice.

My Persol 714's are simultaneously my favorite looking sunglasses and the worst quality ones I own.
So I'd say yes. |

Maui Jim Cliff House model with Bronze lenses are great sunglasses. MJ has fantastic customer service. I have had two pair of glasses replaced with them and both times they gave me great service. Cheers, Tim

Going to update this thread. Between the missus and I we have 7 pair of MJs. Truly superior optics.
Long story short - one of my favorite pairs (Wailea Ti Sports) slid off the dash of my POS rental car. Was already in a bad mood because the rental was necessary to a clueless guy t-boning me. Pulled into the next driveway - sprinted towards my glasses just in time to have them get run over by a Suburban. MJ effectively replaced them for a fraction of retail even though they were completely destroyed and well out of warranty. |

For those who are interested, here's some pretty good info on sunglasses.

Oakley is fine if that is your style. I will say that the only ones I have found worth it are the polarized.
I have also had a pair of ray-bans and within a month or two, the plastic ear piece started getting loose and sliding off and on. Not a huge deal and it is an easy fix, but for $200 sunglasses, I shouldn't have any issues with them that soon. |

Mui Jims have great lenses but not my style, I love Persol. After getting Persols I dont think I can ever go back to Ray Ban, you can tell the quality/detailing difference immediately. And yes I know they are both owned by Luxxotica.

Fellas, I have never seen a pair of MJ but have read on here a couple of posts that say their lenses are the best, now, I ask this question because I don't know the answer, looking through the lenses of similar priced sunglasses, what is the difference? and how can one tell? Surely it is not clarity, TBH, being glasses one must be able to see through them.
I don't want an argument, I'm just curious and want to learn so that the next pair of sunglasses I buy I will know what to look for. ATM I wear Oakley Polarised and am happy with them but have no loyalty if something outperforms them.
