Kudos!
Even after having been in a road accident in which my Omega PO suffered only minor scratches to the bracelet and absolutely no scratches to the crystal, I still can't get myself to lay my watches face down on a leather desk.

When I'm not wearing it to sleep in, I very carefully put mine down on its side on a micro cleaning cloth, either from Rolex or Omega. I also rinse it off after a long distance run to make sure there's no salt on it. That way, I can make certain that all the scratches and dings are from me whacking it into door jambs, car doors, or computer keyboards.

Actually if I don't have a soft case to put the watch down sideways I usually put it down face down as well. Sometimes doesn't sit so well because of the cyclops lens though.

I put mine on a watch pad I got from vereat face up wrapped in a cleaning cloth. I wash it before I put it to bed. Works for me. As long as you have a routine that works for you. This would make me nervous though. But I should talk as I was using paint stripper today while wearing my watch.

I've always kept my watches face-down. It seems the most intuitive way to protect them from scratches, but after reading all of these responses I guess maybe it's not as intuitive as I had thought!
But, as you say Vanessa, my watches are virtually free of scratches. |

Here's where mine spends the night, on a wooden shelf above the sink so I don't worry about anything.
Crystal up, though, but with the band positioned like this there are no scratches anywhere...
