I've had non-WIS's make some crazy watch comments over not just my Rolex but a ton of other watches, from cheap to luxury, and I stay polite and do not try to make it a teachable watch moment. Face it, to most people, watches are not a big deal, so for a guy with limited watch knowledge but a keen interest, I say let them enjoy them all.

No, a Rolex is instantly recognizable in many countries.

You handled it well bro.

Maybe stop going to that restaurant, there may be something in the food.

I wanted to face palm there, but I politely just said no, and he showed off his invicta pro diver "limited edition."

Anyone here have similar instances where people mistake your watch for an homage/rip-off they're more used to seeing?
I do it on purpose just to PISS off people like you.

If someone likes watches, not just the BRAND snobby name on the dial, they can respect a good design, homage, copied, original or not.
A watch is just that, a watch. Something made by humans. Big deal.

Sounds like you wanted your ROLEX to elevate you ABOVE his invicta.

Shame on you....

No but my Road Glide was mistaken for a Gold Wing; does that count?
