If you really appreciate it....wear it and enjoy it. At 16 if you can really appreciate a brand like AP you are way ahead of the masses.

I know many "kids" that had many things handed to them including, college educations, family businesses, homes, cars, watches, trust funds, etc. As long as you appreciate it that's all that matters. I didn't have these luxuries but I don't think less of those that do as long as they are humble and have an appreciation for what they are getting.

Don't let anybody tell you that you cannot wear it because of your age. If you like it, WEAR IT!

Having said that, realize that an AP not rugged like a G Shock or a Rolex. At 16, I'd imagine that you get plenty of physical activity so it may not make sense to wear an AP every day. Maybe it can be your weekend watch? Even if you are a very careful person, I'd be careful wearing your watch to school or around friends your age. I don't know your situation (maybe you have very mature friends), but just keep in mind what I said.

Congrats on such a nice watch, by the way. You are very lucky! Post some pics when you get a chance.

Thanks! I'll remember all of that. Very useful advice.

Agree completely with Wes.

The real risk with teens wearing nice watches is the chance of theft, either by taking it off for a split second and it "disappears" or a gang of classmates decide to take it from you.

I would say wear it, but make sure your parents have your watches insured under their home policy (usually there is a "rider" to the policy). Then, no worries. Rock that baby.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I would like to point out that the butterfly clasp is simply a joy to use. I love the engraved AP, it reminds me of the concealed clasp president bracelet

I'd save for nicer events like others have mentioned...when I was 16, I was more
into cars so spent most of time/money on that sort of thing.

Also agree that a 15400 isnt the best when you're running around as a Rolex would be more of a tool watch per se. Just cause a Lambo (or really, an Audi) can be driven daily, doesnt always mean it should.

Have fun!

Congrats! Very nice watch. Remember to be grateful for what you have and understand that many are not as lucky as you. My recommendation is to wear it on weekends and special ocassions as others have said. Above everything enjoy your new AP!

I would have loved one at 16 too! OP, I guess you're from a background with plenty of money. Nothing wrong with that. I think you should enjoy your watch, and as you see asking if a "kid" can sport an AP on a public internet forum isn't the best idea.

Enjoy TRF, and nevermind the age.

Really?

Would you have even known what one was at 16?

I can't imagine any 16 year olds into haute horology?!

That's the point, this kid already has experience of nice watches and he has even joined an internet forum so he is about ten-twenty years ahead of most of us. On that basis as you are not looking to show off or brag then I say wear it and enjoy it, you have the right attitude.

My interest in fine watches started at 16, I bought my first 'nice' watch (Cartier tank) at 18, can't see why one can't be into haute horlogery at a young age.

Yes I would have known what it was. Especially if I was sixteen in 2014.

I imagine you are in a small elite group then.

Most adults I know with an interest in watches haven't even heard of it!

No. You should not wear a 15400. Instead you should upgrade it for a Jumbo !

More seriously, I would never offer an AP to a 16 year-old. But you are fortunate enough to have one, then you should wear it. Who said you need to be an old fart to have good taste?

You seem pretty mature for a 16 year old.... so, wear it in good health, and get a ceramic ROO/Diver as a daily beater :)

Well, age is just a number. So doesn't matter what age you are - but the attitude with which you wear the watch.

Wear it because you like it, not because you want to project an image of which you are not.

Honestly wear it and wear it with pride. You seem to know watches so it's not over the top. Personally for me at mid to late 20s I wouldn't wear it everyday but not wear it twice a year. Use it at least one day every week. When you feel like it wear it. However with you daily watch id look at something less for obvious reasons.

I learnt not to worry about what people think of me and what I choose to wear or own.

Honestly you would be surprised how little people notice nor care about what's on your wrist.

We gave my oldest daughter a TAG automatic mid size watch for High School graduation. The watch at the time cost about $1600. It was a classis sporty steel watch. She still has it and she wears it regularly at 28. I know it's not a Rolex or an AP but it's relative. We treat our children well and we try to teach them lessons that will stay with them for life. If rewarding a child with an expensive gift bothers the minority so be it. Enjoy the watch and wear it with respect!

Can or should? Can...of course anyone with a wrist can wear a watch. Should is a different story IMHO.
