I just gotta disagree with the above. I wear an Explorer II a watch made to go to the tops of mountains and the bottoms of oceans. I wear mine into burning buildings , on hunting trips,to the gym flipping tractor tires and swinging kettle bells, it'll go water skiing and diving with me.

To do otherwise would dishonor its heritage .

When the Exp II was introduced in 1971 it cost a good sight less than today's 7K. So insisting on wearing it during a wake boarding session would seem needlessly careless to most. It would to me anyway.

Wake boarding is a low speed water sport , chance of loss seems small at best.

I'm sure I'm not the typical Rolex owner my pre owned Explorer II cost me more then my car, or my wife's car or all but two cars I've ever bought ( I'm 56 in a few days).

I fancy myself a bit of a man of adventure , I've white water canoed in places like the Yukon, BC, AK and so forth, hunted and backpacked all across North America , rode motorcycles, certified diver, professional firefighter.

Part of Rolex's attraction for me was the great men of adventure who wore them before me.
I enjoy having a small link to them through the watch, they wore them on their great adventures and I'm wearing mine on my smaller ones.

But that's me. Ymmv

I respect Larry302's (nice choice in displacement btw, windsor or cleveland?) opinion but its a hard line one for sure..

Theres more than one story of a loss on waterskis or wakeboards, and though the best choice may be to leave it behind and out of danger, thats worse than putting it on an aftermarket strap imo.

Besides the nato has its own provenance. One i am more than comfortable with whenever i don my kit.

Good info regarding dangers of non drilled lugs and their springbars.. Makes sense, can anyone recommend a source for stronger springbars that will still fit non drilled through lugs?

if you really must wear a rolex why not think about a lanyard , all my dive computers have one ,, crazy not to , and they are only half the price of a rolex , or less.
