I have a wolf, but honestly haven't used it in quite a while, since I have been wearing the sub most days and not switching as often. Get one for convenience, that's why they were made in the first place.

I like the wolf for a very special reason. It winds the whole number of turns in 6 hours and then it rests for 18 hours. It lets the spring wind up and then wind down. Most winders just move slowly all day so the spring never gets a chance to wind up and down.
Its a minor point but useful. More similar to me wearing the watch for 8 hours and then letting it sit on my dresser overnight.

What fer?
Why you want winder?
The SubC is easy to set the time and date if need be. I use winders for complications that are, well, complicated and for those I use Underwood. |

For those with Wolf winders that have the storage above the winders, do you find that the slots are on the smaller size and the watch pouches are a bit too large to get the watch to fit in?
I really want to get to like the Wolf but this is the only drawback I see for now. |

Looks like some of us are as passionate about how we live with our watches as we are about the watches themselves!
I would add winders are indispensable for pre-quickset (1570 caliber) Rolexes, and perpetual calendars (non-Rolex). But, yeah, for a recent model like, say, a SubC, I would take pleasure in spending a few minutes winding and setting my work of art. |

A simple question was asked. Amazing how many people on here want to preach, pontificate, give advice outside the question at hand, or make lame jokes. Just answer the dude's question and quit bloating these threads (like I'm doing now).

I have the Wolf Viceroy 6 piece watch winder, set at 650 turns per day (TPD), bi-directional:
http://www.wolfdesigns.com/item/456802/6-piece-winders/ Highly recommended. I used to have the single Windsor winder with fixed 900 TPD*: http://www.wolfdesigns.com/category/...watch-winders/ If you go Wolf and are in the USA, I highly recommend checking prices on Overstock - far better than OEM or Amazon price. * Most common recommendation for Rolex watches is 650 TPD, so if your budget permits look into the Wolf Viceroy single winder which lets you set the rotations. Try HERE: www.watchwinderstore.com . Have used one 4 years (Quad Model). Nicely made and finished - good price.

+1 you don't wear a Rolex to work when you're surrounded by haters. In fact, let me expand this: no nice car or clothes either.

More preaching, nice.
I don't wear one to work either. My company has had its troubles and downsizings the last several years while my career has flourished, so I think wearing a Rolex would send a potentially bad message. We each have our reasons. On the subject of winders, I own a Wolf which is excellent. Don't understand why this topic tends to bring up pompous responses. |

Which winder for my Rolex Sub-C
Thank you to the OP! I was about to ask a similar question for my GMT (talk about a pain to set!).
I had a nice wolf winder that I never used so I gave it away. What a mistake! Now I picked up a Breitling and am getting a custom Panerai built. Both the Panerai and the Breitling have 0 complications so I'm not concerned about them. But the Rolex! Thanks for the good posts folks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a royal thorn on my butt to set the GMT hand properly to my home time. I'm sure others don't feel the same way but I always have a hard time setting it. That's why I never took it off! But now I'm rotating watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just set the minute and 24 hour hand together, then set the date and lastly the jump 12 hour hand. Done!
