No other jewellery than the Rollie. I have no issue with paying for quality, but feel that mosy "luxury/designer" brands do not offer quality, just a large price tag that justifies their exclusivity.

I think a bright florescent orange NATO strap on that Platty would match your NIKE Tiger Woods nicely

I always wear luxury items all day round. Luxury doesn’t mean it has to flash everyone. Luxury can be discrete and of very good taste like a Rolex Submariner.

I prefer to match my watches with the right style - not necessarily luxury brands.
But if they do match, yes, why not? (within reason)

I have a thing where depending what I am wearing, I choose my watch...
I am 31 and work in the radio and music buisness, so dress is somewhat casual. It works out like this, the more laid back the clothing, the flashier the watch. So it could be sneakers, tshirt, and a baseball hat, but with the gold DD. I always buy top dollar, but only buy once. My girlfriend buys all sorts of cheap trendy shit, I buy quality. So yes, I do wear my watch with other luxury items, buy not on choice, all my stuff is higher end. As a guy, one spends on a belt, a wallet, and a watch. I apply the same rule to watches, buy as good as you can afford, instead of buying a bunch of crap. 1 Rolex = 1000 Casios |

As my 9 year old son says. A rolex goes with anything. Jeans, greens, etc....

Rolex is not even a luxury item... it caters more to the mass market.. not exclusive enough to be a luxury item imho

Funny. I didn't check this thread until now because I don't have any other luxury items that I can think of and thought I wouldn't relate to this thread. I enjoy quality items such as Rolex but I am a very casual person. It seems most here are the same.

Things that I never leave the house without no matter what I am wearing...wallet, watch, car keys, cell phone, sunglasses and pen.
The brands have changed over the years. These days, it just happens to be a Louis Vuitton wallet, Rolex Yacht-Master, BMW keys, Motorola KRZR, Maui Jim sunglasses and Montblanc pen. Technically they are luxury goods, but they are quality goods. And the reality is that the majority of people will never notice. My wallet is the black epy one which is usually in my pocket. Unless you're into LVs and recognize the style, you would think it's just a plain black wallet. That is the same for the Rolex, it's just a watch. The BMW key is a recognizable brand, but it rarely leaves my pocket when I'm not in the car. My Montblanc is the cool blue starwalker which is quite different then the traditional Montblanc, which makes it just a cool looking pen unless someone recognizes the snowcap. My Maui Jim is recognizable just because they say Maui Jim on the lens. The most recognizable item would be my cell phone, but who really cares about cell phones? The only people who will recognize other people's luxury items are those who are into them as well. |

I have a black leather Dunhill wallet that I have been using for years, also a Dunhill black frame glasses, my cell phone is a Nokia 8801. With my Rolex, I mainly wear a t-shirt and jeans, sneakers. Nothing really fancy.

The more I read this thread, the more I realize 'luxury' doesn't apply to my purchasing choices. My situation is more like... you can buy a pocket knife for $10-$40, I have a $400 one. You can buy a digital camera for $159, I spent over $1000. You can buy an acoustic guitar for $99, I have several that cost over $3000 ea. I have shoes that cost multiple hundreds of dollars, but I also have $29 ones. Are these 'luxury' items, not to me. Most, if not all, looking at these items don't have a clue that they are any different than their own lesser expensive items. I prefer it that way. I like nice stuff for the same reasons I bought a Rolex. I appreciate finely crafted, quality work. I strive to achieve the same in my own endeavors. I'd rather have one quality item than several lesser ones. Mix and match w/other luxury items, not really. I don't own an expensive name brand suit or other expensive jewelry. My only accessory is my Rolex.

I wear my GMTIIc with everything. The only time I don't wear it is when I'm sleeping and coaching my son's soccer team. The reason I don't wear it when coaching is my son is 3 and all the players come up to about my waist. I'm afraid if one of them is around me and I don't see them and raise my arms to point or coach a position player, I might hit one of them in the head and hurt them.

"Luxury" is a very subjective term. Compared to most of my friends and family, I live a more luxurious lifestyle. I have a nice house with a home theater as well as 3 HDTV's between 42 and 65" (LCD, Plasma and DLP), and have my own small home recording studio. I drive a nice BMW coupe and wear name brand clothing. Everything I own (besides the house) is paid for, which in my mind is living the good life. That said, people with millions/billions of dollars would find my living situation only tolerable or maybe not even that.
As someone stated before, a lot of wealthy people don't consider Rolex to be a luxury item. Having "luxury" items and living well are a state of mind. Some people look at me and think, "I couldn't afford to live like that"- While I look at people driving Ferraris and living in 10,000 sf. houses and think the same thing...Again, it's all subjective.
