36mm would be good for wrists 6.5 or under. Mine is 6.75-7 and it looks small on me.

I have a 7.5" wrist and when I put on my TT DJ I am always amazed at how it doesn't look small even though I know it's a 36mm. One thing I have noticed is the newer saphire crystal ones seem to apear to wear a tad larger than the older plexi ones like mine. They may be slightly different dimensionally and I just don't know it?

I bought the DJ2 with slate dial, green romans in two tone. I sold a Panerai 000 because it was too big for me at 44mm. But I find anything from 38 to 42 in range. I think I need a watch to be at least 38 to feel right.

I don't think 36mm looks too small, my wrist is 7.25", but to each his own. I'm definitely more comfortable on this side of the size spectrum, I had an Omega PO 45mm that I just could not enjoy because it felt too large and heavy on my wrist.

Remember the new version DJs have the more robust case and heavier bracelet.

36 mm DJ and DD have been manufactured over 50 years and during this time period they have been on the wrist of hundred of thousands men who has different size of wrist. As far as I am concerned on the basis of this background
they have done their job rather well. There is also another DJ option DJ II if the 36 mm feels too small.

I always smile when I see this topic as the issue is so subjective that it cannot be answered by anyone other than the potential owner.

You could ask whether a Toyota Corolla is "too small" and if you had 4 kids then I might be able to say "Yes".

But a watch? Does it get lost between the freckles and hairs on your wrist? Is the face so small you can't read the time?

I hate to say it but yes, I did find the DJ too small and so went for the DJ II.

I wish it wasn't the case because the white dial, Roman numeral DJ is one of my all-time favorites, and I sat in the AD for half an hour with it on my wrist trying to convince myself that it wasn't too small...but finally realized that I was fighting a losing battle.

I've just done a double check on Patek Calatrava and they are anywhere between 35mm-39mm. Quite a good number are 36/37/38mm...

So if it's okay with Patek, it certainly is okay for everyone else (big wrists included). Classic is always classic. 36mm is quite a classic size.

Then again, it's just my opinion. If it looks tiny on you, opt for a bigger size watch. Important thing is that you like it and above all, you can read the time!

A classic will never be too small. Just think of the DJ2 as an option for those who want larger. Tho IMHO, the DJ will look fantastic even on a massive 7.75 inch wrist.

The 36 mm DJ is perfect. The oyster bracelet and smooth bezel is a awesome watch if you want something sporty and it can be worn with a Brioni or it can be worn with shorts, sandals and a tee shirt. The jubilee with a fluted bezel (my favorite) also fits in this category.

You mentioned wearing a Panerai, so perhaps try on both smooth bezel on oyster as well as fluted on jubilee and see which one begs you to take it home. I'm sure you'll probably be very happy with either DJ.

I think its great. I'm not into the 'bigger, bigger, bigger' watches of the last years.
Everyone should own a classy small piece, and the DJ is perfect for the job!
