Thanks Bo! Funny thing, this was in front of a pizza joint, not a club or bar. And my 2nd fight in the same exact spot. I was dazed, so I didn't see cops, just the ambulance escorting us inside. Trust me J.J., I'm more Coca Cola than Jameson/Wild Turkey/Crown/Jack these days. Actually for 2 years I was a full blown alcoholic-not bragging but 8-10 pints every day and end the night at said bar with 5 Jameson/wild turkey neats. I can't (well I can) do that anymore. Im not a kid anymore! I know now when to say enough. Before it was drink til u puke. Our motto we got from Cash Money Millionaires(rappers for those that don't know) "Cash Money motto is to drink til u throw up". Stupid and immature, but thats how we did.

At the end of it all, Steve......I hope all our comments and advice have been an eye-opener for you.
There is plenty of time for improvement. Just stay off the booze and make some new friends.....and you'll be fine. At least I have to admire one thing about you - you had the balls to admit all of the above on an international forum. Now that does take a lot of guts....and admirable honesty!! Cheers & good luck - JJ

I am 27 years old and must admit, I find myself quite embarrassed for you after reading this post. Sounds like you guys have quite a bit of growing up to do; perhaps this is a good learning lesson. Grow up, find new friends and move on.
By the way the “Cash Money Motto” is nothing more than a cheap marketing gimmick to influence the weak minded consumer of rap paraphernalia. Don’t let it influence your life. |

Your friend is an @$$hole and he's only going to bring you down. His problems could have gotten you killed and did get you robbed and you almost lost your heirloom watch. Think about it. 10 years from now you're not going to look back and laugh at this story.
Like Terry says, we've all done things we would like to take back and many of us are not the same person as we were years ago. We have grown up. Move on and stay healthy and safe. I'm glad you're ok. Shame about the expense but thankfully you'll heal and the watch can be fixed. Good luck.

Always take your watch off when those situations present themselves - from experience.

Umm - I know it's been said here before, but I'm compelled to say it again.
You friend is an ASSHOLE with excessive emotional baggage and a drinking problem. I feel sorry for the young people who ran into you two. Lucky for them they could take care of themselves. Had your piece of *s*** friend ran into me at that age I might be the one in hospital because unlike your *asshole* friend I'm not the fighting type. Perhaps your friend will one day bite off more than he can chew and he'll end up dead, or in jail for really hurting an innocent person. Sorry dude - this kind of story winds me up for all the wrong reasons.

It's knuckle-headed behavior like this that keeps criminal defense attorneys like me in business.

If you believe you have a serious drinking problem and want to fix it the only thing that works is living sober, i.e., no alcohol at all. Cutting back won't work. Sooner or later your consumption will be back to where it was. Staying sober will involve loosing your so called friend (s), avoiding all situations that involve drinking and appreciating that it is not your Rolex you should be feeling sorry about, it's the people you hurt.

This thread has not had much to do with watches or Rolexes for quite some time - why not just shut it down....

I had a "Friend" like this too. Knew him since the 1st grade. When we went to parties in high school, he was always the life of the party. But when we became adults and started going to bars it became apparent that he had some sort of chip on his shoulder that alcohol brought out. He started to pick fights and when he started to ask me to back him up in these idiot beer muscle brawls, I said enough was enough. I stopped going out to bars with him.
That shank could have easily been a 9mm Glock to the back of your head Steve. I think it's time to stop drinking with the guy. |

The reason you're receiving so much hostility is because you and your friend did attack some poor kids, and well...thankfully you guys didn't end up killing some kids.
Treat others like how you would liked to be treated, at least that's how I live my life. I don't have many friends, and the ones I do are level headed, mature and responsible. I guess there's a plus side to having less friends as well than having those that rope you into trouble. The watch seems like the least of your problems in life, and incidents like this continue to add to the 'Rolex stigma'. This says it all:

Perhaps your friend can pay for your watch and other expenses? That's the least he could do if he's sorry. That guy ruined your life.
