the watches I tried on were not for sale, if they were i would have paid for the deep sea straight away.

The Glass is dommed and approx 5mm thick in the middle, it has a slight graduation but it is very sutle. The case back is made of an inner and an outer ring with the inner ring being made from titanium and is two tone in colour. the watch has been produced like this to withstand the pressures

Is the case back domed.....and, more importantly, is the watch comfortable?

Sorry everyone, forgot to mention the watch is big but still feels so so confortable, i cannot begin to tell you all how wonderful this watch really is in the flesh, the pictures on the net do not do the watch real justice.

its is certainly worht the wait. I get my first one in July, one of the 1st of the production line.

That makes sense...where else should a watch be? I feel so bad for your GV...take her out and let her live life a little...

Seriously though, can you speak a little to the lettering around the ring. I'm getting this watch no matter what...but I'm hoping all the BS text on the ring is not as 'pronounced' as I fear it might be. No watch is perfect, and therefore I've come to grips w/ the fact that I'll just have to live w/ the writing, but I was hoping you could give us some honest feedback on how it looks in person.

Also, would you say the dial is the same diameter as a standard Sub? I know the case is bigger, but I can't determine if the actual dial is still the same size because of the ring lock. Hopefully they increased the dial instead of just putting the same one in a larger case...

Anybody have any idea when that bad boy is going to hit the shores of the US (more specifically California...no AD out here seems to know for sure)?

I have heard that the watch will hit the AD's in Canada in September time, and was told that this would be the same for the US, though at Bazelworld my AD told me that the US AD's were not spending too much at this time, i certainly imagine they would be carrying the DSSD though.

does nobody want to know about the sub?

Maybe it gets dwarfed by the seadweller, but I want more sub info...
how was the blue? the bezel the maxi case/dial?

I've always considered the sub a sleek porsche compared to the mac truck that is the sd

I put the deep sea next to my 16613 sub (my choice of watch for this particular day) and it made the sub look small both from the birds eye view and when you see it from the side it looks nearly twice as thick.

The bracelet and the clasp is a piece of marvellous engineering and again when you get to play with it you really understand what thought has gone into producing this.

I would recoomend if you get a deep sea and require extra links, do not use the new adjustment, ask rolex to supply extra links to put into the bracelet.

The watch has a new maxi dial face which is bigger than the submariner, and the new blue LUME which is unbelievable, you have got to see this to believe it.

Every time I think about this watch and see all of your comments it makes me get very very excited and me realise how lucky I was to be invited by Rolex to view and try this watch on.

Another point to mention this watch was number 3 of the production line.

have a great day every one

Please share your thoughts on the Sub

How is the bracelet?

Most importantly, please paint your best word picture on the "BLUE" in the bezel and the dial.

Marking this thread for instant notification .

Great report Mark. I'm REALLY looking forward to this one. From the anticipation posted around various forums and others I've talked to the DSSD is going to be a big hit.

Apparantly, ONE DSSD is availible for purchase right now.

Click here to add to basket!

It only has a modest premium of ££ 1,750!

Hi Marke
I knew that you wouldn't be able to resist the temptation
You did an excellent job on the description
Perhaps you should apply to Rolex and become their PR and advertising person!
Just think of the commission

Brilliant description. Much better than the one by James D on timezone which basically said nothing new and got a standing ovation.

Question: Does the lume pip on the bezel look like it could be easily knocked? It looks too pronounced and therefor prone to being knocked.

This thread makes me excited. Now I cant wait to see a SDDS in pereson. The only thing is that it may not be until next year that I can do that. I'm sure that ADs will get them on October as scheduled but they will be sold long before I can even ask to see it.
