Well,I just called the buyer and arrange to meet. He agree to meet at bank but he refused to deposit the cash into my account. He wants to give me the cash and I deposit it by myself.

Ask him to bring a copy of his drivers license. Explain that you are an honest person and just being cautious.
I really don't find this thread that far fetched. As someone who's worked in law enforcement for 8 years nothing surprises me anymore. I'd rather someone find me overly paranoid and feel I'm not the type of person to be taken advangte of than an easy target. |

I just did the sale in the lobby of a hotel. 2 doormen and I wasn't going to hand over the watch until I counted the cash. He examined the watch with a jeweler loop and I had a complete set of papers and accessories that came with the watch.
Do it in the bank is the best advice. I just happened to be staying in the hotel at the time |

Given the high number of Craiglist robberies in Western Michigan, quite a few police departments have opened their lobbies for face to face transactions during their public hours. They have even suggested using their parking lots which are under surveillance for times when the police department lobby isn't open.
Saying the police will tell you get lost is highly dependent upon the jurisdiction you are in. |

Hold his first born hostage when he inspects the watch.
Dude, you are way to paranoid to do a f2f deal. I would be weirded out by you and I'd go home. |

I would bring a set of handcuffs and handcuff yourself to the watch bracelet, that way he can inspect but you'll retain the watch if he tries a fast one...
But seriously, it doesn't sound like you're comfortable making such a deal. Sell to someone you trust. |

You should grasp one of his legs firmly with your free hand before handing over the watch. Or, and this is my preferred method, have him lie down flat on the floor before handing over the watch for him to inspect. Best to do this in a public place. No-one will think it is weird.

Do you have an attorney that you use?
Why not do an "escrow" type of situation. The attorney takes both your watch and the guys cash. Verifies the cash is legit before you possess it, then hands over the watch. If the guy doesn't like the watch, he hands it back to the attorney and receives his cash back. If not, he takes the watch, you take the cash, have a nice day. |

I wouldn't be surprised if the buyer is on another watch forum asking if you sound "dodgy", and all the other forum members telling him that you're a scammer :D

OP, you do not sound comfortable doing this. Sell the watch to a jeweler, or to one of the trusted sellers on here. Will you get less $? Yes. But the piece of mind is worth it. |
