Thank you, Tyl3r, for caring enough to comment!

Tyl3r, nothing taken the wrong way! I appreciate your post, and a different way of looking at things. I decided to post this thread, in case that site was set up as some sort of scammer site, where they would respond to buy or sell threads, with a LINK that took one to THAT site, and since it looks so close, maybe folks would have been subject to a scam. Not sure what (if any) scam that could end up being, but I figured being aware that it now exists could be a good thing, safety wise. I think stealing user names and passwords could be one BIG reason they created that site. Not sure why they added FAKE though, versus making it a clean copy. Hard to get into the minds of these internet scammers, though. maybe they benefit from the traffic it can/will generate, once google picks them up. Again, I appreciate your comments, and hopefully, if this thread is NOT in out best interest, Rob, Steve, or another Moderator will remove it!

No, it is mirroring the output/what we see on browser. The login process is done on the php (server end) and is never processed on the client side. You will have to login on the fake site to be compromised.

Woah scary. Interesting that it seems to replace "Rolex" with "Rolex fake" in all the posts

The link in the OP has been appropriately modified by Admin, so as to prevent folks from going there, for the safety of the membership. Follow proper care and safety when logging in to TRF, as has been noted in previous posts, as Rob said, double check and triple check, when logging it, to make sure you are on the right site.

What about our PMs? I've shared a lot of private stuff via PM. Including transactional info with trusted sellers.

This type of thing is not isolated to this forum. I have see this happen to the truck forum and the boating forum I frequent. Not sure why they do it but I would guess they are after members personal info.

Assuming this is indeed a mirror and TRF server/database has not been compromised, private information like PM walled behind a login/authentication is safe.

Guys, do not overreact. The website is simply mirroring TRF. Whoever is doing this does not have our information. We are not at risk unless we try to log into our account on that website.

Mods I'd report this site using google webmaster tools. This is an SEO ploy and against google webmaster guidelines. A complaint will get the url punished degrading any seo value.

^this^ as well! Wes is right...don't overreact.

This thread is to make sure everyone knew to beware of fake TRF site and to be extra vigilant and NOT try and log in there. Always look at the URL and make sure you are where you want to be, before logging in to any sites you may use, such as TRF, banking, and the like.

doubtful. That's "deep web" and the way this site was populated seems to be crawler.

doubtful. The link doesn't work. The site isn't an exact copy. it has a purposeful url that is different and it's added "Fake" to almost all mentions of "rolex". e.g. they could have made it exact with less effort. I've seen this before and it that case it was an SEO play "scraping" and not a personal info grab.

That is super irritating and scary. Hope it gets fixed soon. I don't want it to comprise TRF in anyway.

Is this somewhat of a website cloning? The only way to proof authenticity of a website is through certificate. Right?
