First 1016s were from 61. I think 89 is about right. Doesn't matter about which has more examples out there - there are millions of each. Rarer will of course be the gilts which were made for only a few years and very few have reached us in excellent condition.

I have both and would like to keep both. Both are gilt.

5513, after seeing it in person some time ago I couldn't get it out of my head, with a little patina it is the perfect watch.

But the bigger question is why are we allowed "just one vintage"?
This is the first problem...its impossible to own just one vintage...it can't be done. If the rule is in place by your wife...its time to get a new wife.
If the rule is in place by your budget...its time to start a lemonade stand.
If the rule is in place by your Mom, its time to run away from home.

Get them both and cut back on a few necessities.
5513 for me

Brad, you sneaky ******! Why would you chose the 1016 - do you already have subs?

I've got a couple of each, love them both, but admit that the 5513s get more wrist time.
