For me the REAL sub is the ND version...
If you need a date then go sea dweller, otherwise 5513,14060 or 114060
I don't understand the sub date market positioning

I just picked up a date version.

I think this is a very personal decision. I don't wear a suit to work since I'm in law enforcement so 90 percent of the time I'll be using the watch in a casual setting off duty. IF I had a job where suits were the norm I would probably go ND.

I know most purest will say an orginal sub is a ND... But I think that when I see the cyclops on a watch it says Rolex. Again these are just my personal opinions. Really how can you go wrong either way!

no date for sure...i'd like to see the 114060 as a 2 liner....now THAT would be sharp

I personally wouldn't like not having a date function, so I vote with date (as I have one myself).

This.

Also, the clean look of the 114060 is truly captivating.

Note: I'm never good with knowing the date, and as my daily wearer, I actually do use the date function!

I like the 14060 two line, no date the best. Just something about the minimalism of it that makes it look really good.

If it were your one and only, then I'd get it with the date function.

Really can't go wrong IMO
This is a good answer. I never thought of it like that.

It's the only sub that has no date so if it has any appeal, it's your only chance to get a no date sub. Personally, I got the no date because my tt sub has a date and I do like the cleaner look.

As mentioned, there's no wrong answer. The Sub is certainly closer to the original reference and, as stated, has a cleaner look. If a date function is something you don't feel necessary it's a great all around reference.

When I purchased my 14060m 11 years ago, I initially wanted the date version but finances were a little short. I quickly realized my love of the ND Sub due to it's simplicity, cleanliness, and history. I've enjoyed it so much, this is the only Rolex I know...by choice.

Once again, for one and only go date, otherwise Sub is best!

I honestly hate having to mess with Dates on Automatics because I don't wear them enough and find myself winding them twice a week. Its just one less thing to fuss with. I have had more compliments with my date less sub than I ever had with my dated Sub for some reason too. Usually people ask what kind of watch is that because it isn't recognizable due to the missing cyclops

I'd go ND... A little more variety from what you have.

If you're going SS... Gotta go no date. JMHO. Although I do miss knowing the date sometimes.

And this is why you don't work for Rolex I'm sure the Sub Date outsells the Submariner by a long way

Just picked up this 2 line Sub. Couldn't be happier. I don't miss the date function from my last watch at all.
