Even though it seems everyone has one, the Sub isn't for everyone.
I'm in the camp with the guys that say don't get it if you are not 100% sure. Not at these price points. Look at the DSSD, bigger and beefier. It may suit you better.

It's an expensive luxury purchase, so you need to be sure. Take a look at the DSSD and Exp II. Perhaps the YMII as well.

Just because you think that you are big doesn't mean that you need a pie pan sized watch on your watch to match..

I agree with what others have said. If are drawn to oversized watches go ExpII or Deepsea.

It looks like the Exp2 216570 might be a good option...
Now if you are really locked on the Sub, the 40mm will look good also, you'll get used to it. |

I am overwhelmed with all the post. Thank you to all.
I will try on a few others next weekend, especially the DSSD. As some has mention, maybe it's a adjustment that I will need to make. I wear a g-shock as a daily wear and tag on the weekends - both larger and tag heavier than the submariner. I did wear the tag all day when I tried on the submariner. This may have skewed my experience. Thanks again. I will update next weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Bring a woman you trust with you when you go try on again. She'll tell you.

As others have suggested, do not/not settle. Also suggested, do not wear a watch on the day you go to the store. I think one of these - EXPII/42, YMII, DSSD - would suit you best. And yes it is a rather huge investment so better be 100% sure you buy the one you like best.
Happy hunting, big D! |

I'm a large man and require 14 links on my TT Submariner. It looks small on my wrist and always has. I purchased a new 42mm polar Explorer II several months ago, and the size looks perfect.

here's my 2 cents...
I bought an 114060 a few months back. No regrets. That said, on my 7.5"-7.75" wrist, the sub does look a tad small in my mind but I have two other non Rolex watches each of which has a 42mm dial. I'll even go further and say the other two are easier to read (tell what time it is), but then my 59 year old eyes used to focus better As others here have suggested, you may want to try on a larger sized Rolex, and if you want a diver...that's a pretty easy choice |

I actually like some variety in the size of my watches. I currently daily wear a 45.5 mm Omega Planet Ocean 8500, but am looking at a GMT IIc as a smaller, slightly dressier sports watch. Trying it on feels very light and small at first, but after a couple days of wearing another watch before trying on the GMT, it didn't feel so small. It's all relative, as others have said. But first and foremost make sure you love it :)

Try looking at yourself in a full size mirror. Just looking down at your wrist can be kind of misleading. You will always be swayed by what you are used to seeing. I have watches from 36mm to 42mm and that's just how it works. They all look fine but the brief adjustment period when you change is always noticeable.
