It's not if you have big or small wrists, it's what size your wrist is when compared to the possible size combinations of the bracelet. I just knew I was rolling the dice on my LV with 6.5" wrist, but it's the best fitting watch I have, bar none

The links just played out right when the AD removed 1 and adjusted the clasp

Here is a good picture of four permanent links on each side. Check out the removable links. I do not matter if you switch the links on 12 o'clock with the links on 6 o'clock.

Perhaps I do not understand this at all, but I've checked all my oyster bracelets (which are of three different versions).

Best,

A

Actually, it might. If you look at your photo, there are 5 full links between the clasp and the watch on the 12 side. There are 4.5 links between the clasp and the watch on the 6 side. Flipping the bracelet would make 5 full links on the 6 side. Then, flipping the clasp would have it correctly aligned to its normal orientation. Of course, this does not change the length of the bracelet but it should affect the positioning of the clasp. I think.

The thing is that the half link (which is only delivered on submariners b.t.w) is permanently attached to the clasp, so you are still stuck with four non removable links on each side.

The issue here is that most people with thin wrist would need fewer fixed links on the six o'clock side. This is partly adressed by the half-link.

On the other hand, the new all solid oyster bracelet have a different clasp, which improves adjustability.

I'll try to get som pictures on my bracelets to try to give examples.

Best,

A

On another thread, someone also suggested gaining enough weight to make it snug. That sounds like more fun than swapping out links.

I had mentioned body-building, but same idea!

If I had a permanent link taken out on the 6 o'clock side, it would ruin the natural taper of the SD's bracelet. Is there no way of getting a slightly larger link on the 6 o'clock side that attaches to the clasp AND maintains a correct taper after removing 1 permanent link??

NO. The step in the bracelet taper is much less noticeable, if at all, on the SD as compared to the Sub. I have done it on both, and it WILL fit correctly. I can send you instructions as to how to remove the link, if you want. It will take you five minutes, and give you a much better fitting watch, and one you will enjoy a lot more.

Of course the Expy2 and older GMT2's had an inherent problem in that they did not align properly, but many of us rectified this by moving one link from the 6 o'clock position to the 12 o'clock position. Should your watch be too big with all links, try removing a link from the 6 o'clock side first as it usually will be better wearing that way.

I think that there can not be less than 5 links on the 6 o'clock position (4 fixed and 1 removable, connected to the clasp). It seems that one less link would have been better for me.

My clasp is perfectly central but the watch always moves about 1/2 inch round to the wrist bone above 12 o/clock.
Every watch i have does it. Don't know why.

I reversed my bracelet (Exp1). The watch will have tendency to go outwards because of weight and usual position of the wrist, if it is loose enough albeit centred. Since the links can not be less than 5 on 6 o'clock side, it can not be centred if your wrist is small. By reversing, the watch kind of centres itself.
