D-Blue... What a watch!
As a Rolex/Panerai fan, I've bounced between different iterations in my collection. On the Rolex side, started with an GMT LN, added the Hulk, bought the BLNR, sold the LN, picked up a Polar.
For the past few months, I've been wanting to add a Deesea, but I couldn't pull the trigger the few times I took it for a test drive. Part of the issue was I have Panerai 389 that sort of handled the potential Deepsea duty, the other being, I like the non-typical versions of the Rolex sports watch lineup. Boy, am I glad I held off. Walking in to my local dealer this past weekend, they happened to recently have received the Deepsea D-Blue and brought it out to show me. Wow. What others have said about the difference between the online shots and the real thing are true, the watch is spectacular in person. The colour change on the dial from blue to black makes total sense now that it is on my wirst. The balance of the text on the dial works, I love the Rolex on top and the green Deepsea on the bottom just above Sea-dweller. The slightly domed bulky watch oozes quality. I'm not much of a movement snob, but there's somthing about the deepsea movement that is special, just can't put my finger on it... Might just be the honeymoon stage... And finally, to take it one step further, my AD sourced the Rolex deepsea booklet from the head office in Toronto and dropped it off at my place on her way home. I feel like a got a great deal, even though I paid full pop, lol For what its worth, if you can get one, do it! All the best :) |
