If the discount on the Daytona is attractive and if you really like the watch, then go for it first since the Exp 2 is a little easier to find, either new or secondhand.

I'm an Explorer II fan so that's obviously my vote. A stainless steel Daytona is "more interesting," a little tougher to come by, and more versatile. There's no surprise it's a favorite here. The Explorer II is more subtle, more useful in my humble opinion, and more sober of the two choices.

I have both and my own personal preference is the Daytona. It is a more interesting watch overall to me, both functionally and in appearance (sports like and not at the same time).

The only reason I don't have a Daytona is because a date function is important to me.

BTW, I have 2 Explorer II (black and white). GMT feature is a plus.
