When it comes to 'One Hit Wonders', the truly awful 'Seasons in the Sun' (Terry Jacks) has to be near the top of the list.

'Sailing' by Christopher Cross...his material got old/tiresome in a matter of weeks. anything by Kenny G & Chuck Mangione as their pieces all sound the same.

successful 'one-hit wonder' bands include The Grateful Dead with 'Truckin' & decades later 'A Touch of Gray' along with Jimmy Buffett & his Coral Reefer Band...a die-hard Deadhead & Parrothead following kept these artists in the limelight.

Quite a few of the artists listed had several hits: Dexy's, Soft Cell, Men at Work, Big Country, Golden Earring (unbelievable, that one - you never heard Twilight Zone ), and A-Ha.

As for Led Zeppelin, that can only be a joke, right? One of the most legendary rock bands of all time and you call them 'one hit wonders'? Wow. Just wow.

Just because a group isn't mahooosive in the US, it doesn't make them one hit wonders

I agree. Such a cheesy song. My friend's classic rock cover band plays it, and it always brings the house down.

Grateful Dead were far from one-hit wonders, same for Jimmy.

It's tough for me to think of Buffett as a one hit wonder. Seeing as he was the third richest lead singer as of 2012. $400+ million for a one hit wonder.

having gone to a number of Dead shows, it seems like every song they play is a hit...to a Deadhead. but from the standpoint of 'mainstream' commercial hits, what else stands out besides Truckin' & A Touch of Gray? ironically, their best & most popular songs tend to be the ones that a non-Deadhead would have no idea of.

Jimmy Buffet & the Dead are/were very successful touring bands with a noteworthy set list & an avid following. perhaps the 'one-hit' criteria cannot be applied to them as their body of work goes far beyond the production of mainstream top 40 singles.

Soft Cell had 10 top ten hits in the UK in the 1980s including my favourites 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' and 'Bedsitter' so I don't think they were a one hit wonder.
