I was first on the list with my local AD for a ceramic Daytona a few years ago, for if/when a ceramic in SS was produced. Unfortunately Rolex pulled the plug on their contract last year and so I have no relationship with any other AD. I rang a few this morning and I was told I am 7th on one ADs list. However one AD told me they were at Basel yesterday and Rolex disclosed the new ceramic Daytona would have a limited production, with 30-50% lower numbers than the existing SS daytona, so they were only expecting 2 a year. On that basis, I have a 4 year wait!!!!

My time estimation is based on what happened with the DD40 availability. No doubt demand will be great.

I called the morning it was release and I'm on the list with my AD for a white dial as well, but I have no delusions of being first. I'm sure he has customers who have purchased much more than I have from him and I'd expect him to take care of them first - I would.

I put my name down for a white dial when I first saw the new watch.
It will be interesting to see how I feel about it if or when I get a call. |

On the list. White dial for me. Hopefully I'll get it this decade... I wasn't told where on the list I am.

Called the AD right after it was announced and was told that I'm #1 in line after I paid a 20% deposit based on the current MSRP of the SS Daytona over the phone. Went in today to grab a copy of the receipt, complete some paperwork, and look at some watches and was assured that I was #1 (they showed me that they noted it on the receipt I was given and internally on their copy) in line after I showed some doubts.
So who knows... Maybe I am in fact #1 in line. Here's hoping! They gave me an estimated delivery of late August/early September. |

hmm apparently everyone is going crazy over the black dial, and im the only one interested in the white dial.. according to the AD i called. I am no where near the 1m spending or even 100k for that matter. I guess I have to wait a couple of years before I get my hands on one or even buy it used then..

I'm getting both dial colors. Have both in the 116520 so keeping with the trend. I do like the white dial 116500 over the black dial, but both are unique in their own way.

I was told I'm #1, but the only thing I've ever purchased from this AD is my 116520 last year. I've got black now, really hoping for white. Was told they expect their first in November. I've got a personal connection to another AD. May see if I can get on his list too.

There will be a lot of anxious and disappointed people come the fall. Put that on your list.

Was thinking that myself - just wonder though if supply will be so tightly limited by Rolex and if this will be as hard to get as people fear? Some of the other recent releases like the SD4000 and GMT BLNR can be picked up despite similar concerns re availability and waiting times - will the new Daytona be that much different after a while?

The gentleman at a local AD I talked to offered to put me on the list. He was super nice and wouldn't accept the deposit until later time when the watch is orderable. Hoping to get one of the first white dial arrivals, but I'm a first time buyer so who knows! Still very excited about the watch and it's well worth the wait.

I don't doubt you at all and please don't take this the wrong way but, what happened to the previous # 1 when you got the bump and what happens when the next guy calls.

I talked to my AD today at lunch and ordered another watch from him. We were discussing the "list" and he said his orders are equally split between black and white. He said the big surprise for him has been the popularity of the 36mm Black Bay. He's had a ton of calls on that. As far as the list goes, he said he's had guys call him and offer a pretty premium to get to the top of the list and has said no. He said they would be calling daily asking on status if he did that and it's just not worth it to him. He also said he'll have excellent customers calling once they start rolling in expecting to get bumped to the top of the list because of the volume they have purchased and he said he doesn't play that game. He said it's based on the order the calls were received - plain and simple. He even said close friends have asked and he told them to get on the list. He initiated the "list" conversation so I have no reason to believe he's not being 100% honest on that, which makes me happy because I should be fairly high up, but I did not ask him what number I was. It will happen when it happens.

I'm on several (UK) 'lists' for both colours.
Realistically though I don't think I spend enough to get a call for maybe three or four years: if ever.

There are lists and then there is the "list". I think everyone will be able to get on a list and be told you're near the top or #1. However I'm sure there's a VIP list or even a super-VIP-celebrity list which supercedes everyone else. I wouldn't be surprised if someone who walks in and buys $0.5m dollars in watches wouldn't get shuffled up to the top if he wanted a new Daytona. Unfort just the way the world works. Unless the list is posted somewhere you don't know if your AD offers the watch to someone else. There are exceptions of course and first on the list means you get it first. ;-)

I am on lists in the UK and one overseas where I have purchased from previously.
The overseas AD suggests I will get it shortly, I've then got a big decision - flip it or enjoy it... |
