My DSSD was my daily beater before I got my AP SS Diver. Once I got the AP the DSSD started collecting dust in the watch box. I'll pull it out every month or so for a few hours of wrist time but I just don't enjoy wearing it as much as my APs. It's comfortable enough but the bracelet is tapered too much for the size of the watch. It doesn't fit as well as APs do. I would lean towers the SS diver on bracelet over the DSSD.
I really need to get better at taking pics |

I was at the local today picking up some clothes for our baby boy and strolled in at Ben Bridges along the way to try on the DSSD. They didn't have the Deep Blue, but had the black dial version. The sales guy pulled it out and let me try it on. Liked it very much. I turned the bezel a couple of clicks and he stopped me and said you can't do that. Really? I've never had that happen before. Is that normal protocol? Anyways, I asked him about the D-Blue and he said it's only for VIP customers of Ben Bridge. WHAT? I asked him if he has a waiting list or something and he said no, but it's only for their VIP clients. He asked me if I had purchased from them before. I replied no and said I most likely won't in the future either. Does this guy think that Rolex is the end all because it's the highest caliber brand they sell? WOW. I'm going to take Rachapon's advice and go to South Coast Plaza tomorrow and take a look there.

Stopped by the AD at South Coast Sunday. Not a good experience there either. DSSD D-Blue was sold. Young lady offered me to try on the regular DSSD. She asked if I wanted to buy it. I told her I really like the D-Blue. Asked when they had another D-Blue coming in and she said she doesn't know. Asked if I needed to go on a list and she said it's first come first serve. She didn't even bother to ask if I wanted to be called when one came in. I just don't get it. I was very polite from the start like I usually am when visiting watch stores, any store for that matter. Do I need to wear a Rolex to a Rolex store to get treated like a real customer? It's not like I walked in there wearing a $50 dollar Timex...
After trying on the DSSD for the 2nd time, I noticed how tapered the bracelet gets. I think I read that on TRF before. Not too thrilled with that as the watch itself is pretty big. I'm very turned off by my recent experiences at Rolex AD's.. I sensed a level of snobbery from salespeople that I haven't experienced at any other AD or Boutique. Is it because EVERYBODY walks into these Rolex stores as they go by to browse and not buy? I think I'm leaning back towards an AP Diver at this point. Much better experiences at AP AD's and Boutiques. Last time I was at the Beverly Hills boutique, the sales lady spent almost 45 minutes showing me different pieces and talking watches. |

It is crazy that sales people can have such attitudes
That South Coast Plaza store has a lot of people simply window shopping, but that doesn't excuse the attitude You could try Traditional Jewelers at Fashion Island which carries Rolex and AP |

I agree, rotating the bezel is part of "trying a watch out." Nothing wrong with doing that at all! It's a FUNCTION/FEATURE of that watch - meant to be used! Again, no reason why you shouldn't be able to rotate the bezel - ridiculous! I've done that on multiple watches at multiple stores, FYI. |
