I have decided to send it in for service when it gains or losses 2 sec or more a day as my local watch guy says he wouldn't touch it as no one else could regulate it during a service any better and most likely not as good. First just cannot understand why anyone would buy a Rolex watch to keep it in a safe and hardly wear it.The 16610 is a watch made in there many millions so its not like its going to be a collectible watch. As for service thats up to you and even if it starts to gain a extra 2 seconds a day its still going to be 99.997% accurate. If stored and not worn I would recommend a small wind once a months or so just to start the movement.

Send it in, tell them not to polish or change any parts. Such as dial, hands, bezel insert.

Mainly my work kept me from everyday wear. Plus my Manager denied me a raise after noticing I was wearing a real one and he was wearing a cheap fake GMT. After I quit wearing it and let it fade from memory I started getting raises again.

1 sec/day or 5 sec/day, it's a mechanical watch that needs servicing. Don't get caught up in a change in accuracy after service.

Don't let RUSA change the dial or bezel :-) that's nice patina on the pearl.

I don't understand why there's always this person who always want to understand everything.
it is not like there's a need to understand everything because there will be more then a million things you will never understand.

Started wearing it in a rotation about 2 years ago, ran great. All of the sudden it was running +15 secs. It was time. Basic service, just springs, seals and oil. The movement had not ground itself into dust. Running at +3. Enjoy!

Beautiful watch as well. I still like the tapered case of the older models better in contrast to the new style case.......

Why are you bothered with + - a sec a day? I dont even notice it (or bother to do so). Most importantly , i know the time and date. If its a few seconds off i dont see a big deal

I own a 1991 X series black TT that has not been serviced for years then i changed to a 1995 blue TT. Honestly, you dont need to service your watch at all. If you look after it well, its impossible for a rolex to spoil.

Besides, every rolex owners know that RSC are the biggest rip offs (at least for where i come from) . A full servicing for Sub cost $900 onwards that includes a new crystal and polishing.

If you wanna service your watch, you must abuse it to the point where there are scratches everywhere, dints / or crack on the sapphire crystal, dented bazel, scratched insert, basically making your watch look like a piece of crap. Then you can go for a full service, pay that money and get everything fixed. Your watch will look at good as new for the money you gonna pay its much worth it.

If theres nothing physically wrong with your watch and youre just being fussy about +- few seconds then youre still gonna be paying $900++ for their technician to do nothing much and the same problem will come again in a few months.

Nice 16610. Your box looks more deteriorated then my S series 16610, but if yours is 1991 then is about 4 years older than mine. I would probably ask your watchmen to take a peek inside to see how lubricated the movement looks and replaced the case gasket / pressure test at least to play safe.

Congrats. What a beauty. I think you should wait a little longer for the service but best is to get it pressure tested.
