Also be careful of any fumes from the acids used to measure the karat of gold. I learned the hard way.

The wipes are fine on your watch. I do it all the time on my Seiko. No ill effect and I've been doing it for several years now. I know the stainless steel in Rolex is definitely stronger than the one in my Seiko, so go ahead.
