I personally would...especially when wearing my cup on the outside of my pants to protect those precious jewels.

I actually saw a guy today wearing a bezel guard on his PAM at my golf course. He was a guest of another member so I didn't abuse him too much but I did ask him why. He said it was to "protect his investment". Says he takes it off in the house.

I don't understand people who live life that way. He must be a blast a parties.

I'm not sure this is entirely fair...I've had 2 Panerais in the past year or so (and I just ordered a BNIB 000 as I had to sell my others when I bought my house). I am absolutely berserk when it comes to scratches and marks. I can't stand anything destroying the look of my stuff. People berated me at another "big" site, saying how scratches "build character", how I "shouldn't care", etc. Personally, I think it's someone prerogative if they want to be anal about their property (especially their very expensive property). What is so wrong about wanting to keep something you bought in pristine condition? People always bring up the "tool watch" and "true purpose" argument, but let's be honest-99% of people buying these (and other) high-end but "tool" watches are NOT buying them to be abused. I also don't get the "scratches add character" argument...I used an analogy at that other site of a car: suppose you go out and buy a brand new BMW. Let's also say on your way home from the dealer someone bumps into you and leaves a nice crack in your bumper. I doubt you'd call it a "character" mark...more likely you couldn't dial your insurance company fast enough to get it repaired.

Scratches, marks, dings, etc. REALLY bother me. Enough so that I often get made fun of (like it seems the OP was). Is it ridiculous to wear the PAM bezel protector? Probably, since it looks very strange. But is it ridiculous to want to keep your expensive piece of jewelry in like-new shape? I don't think so.

Proud leaver-on'er of plastic wrap, stickers, and other anti-scratch paraphernalia.

Of course not. But the answer is to choose when to wear your expensive piece of jewelry, not to wear it with a bezel protector on.

Are you leaving it for someone to enjoy when you are dead, because you did not fully enjoy it?

I left the stickers on my bracelet. it doesnt take away too much from the look. so all good.

I still have the plastic sticker on the clasp of my new Planet Ocean. I guess that makes me "idiotic" :/

Have you seen the bezel protector on a Panerai? Thing is huge... It's not like merely having plastic on the clasp. It's much bulkier than even the Rolex bezel protector. Don't be mad at me, Jonny - O

Also- The Bezel protectors and stickers are in place to protect the watch during shipping/transit from the manufacturer to the AD, and finally to the consumer. Keepingthe stickers on while wearing them is like those people you see wearing overcoats with the designer's label still attached to the sleeve/cuff. (Yes- I have seen people do that!)
