DD40 in your case, only because of the President bracelet, which is the most beautiful bracelet ever made imho. Once you have the DD than go for the SKD

Thank you all for taking the time to respond. Would any of you DD40 owners happen to know how much it weighs? Nobody put it on a scale just our of curiosity?? :)

I'm back and forth between these two watches..
1. A possible hacking issue (SKD) vs a possible date change issue (DD40) - no advantage to either watch.
2. SKD is super heavy - DD40 is an unknown to me yet, so possibly SKD advantage
3. SKD super cool design - DD40 timeless design. Hard to tell how SKD would seem 10-20 years down the road design-wise, so possibly DD40 advantage - even though currently I'm leaning towards SKD..
4. SKD is about $10K more than DD40 as far as I can tell, so DD40 advantage

Good thing I have a few more months before my birthday - and a Rolex AD is within a walking distance from where I live, so still plenty of time to decide..

That is a good plan - and I love that bracelet. My wife also prefers the DD40 - although it may or may not have something to do with DD40 retailing for $10K less :)
But I only want to buy one watch and wear it 100% of the time - I used to collect stuff - digital cameras come to mind :) That resulted in me having a bunch of expensive gear that largely remained unused - so I learned my lesson and sold everything, and from now on I would rather buy something super expensive (for my budget) - and enjoy it exclusively until it falls apart and can't be repaired any more.
I will get a cheap plastic watch though - like Swatch or something - something I wouldn't regret destroying by accident when out drinking and such)

All DD40 look gorgeous. They also seem to look more like a dress watch - which is the opposite of what I normally dress like. Does anyone have a pic with a t-shirt and shorts and this watch on? Tall order, probably?

DD will go better with dress occasions than the SkyD. I found the SkyD to be way way too large for any type of dress occasion.

The Rolex oyster case is one of the best water resistant cases in the industry. That 100 m rating means you can go down 330 ft (100 m) in the ocean without a care in the world (for your watch at least.)

In fact, many have said that if a Rolex is rated at 100m it could probably go down to 150 m (they underestimate their ratings.) A Rolex is tested at the depth it's rated for with it's crown unscrewed, so in theory should be able to go down to 100 m with the crown out. That is if the seals are brand new etc. You should always keep your crown screwed down.

The Day Date is the true classic here; just be careful how you spec it. I have had issues with the midnight change-over but would assume any new watch will now be fine. Used versions may well have this fault. I haven't heard of other problems.
A properly working DD40 is surely the pinnacle of Rolex. Not so sure about models designed in SS and then made in gold..such as the `Sub. And, for me, the Skydweller is bulky and not so pretty.
Still, fun choice to have.

You should try both on for sure before deciding.

How large is your wrist? Flat or round? Does your wrist swell or tend to stay the same size?

Thr DD40 is far better looking IMO, classic. The Skd is a larger case and wears completely different. I also find the dial difficult to read at a glance.

Tough call, both are super nice, but if only one, the WG green dial would be my choice.

Good luck

DD. Have you also considered the classic 36 mm size?

Curious as to what Vlad did? Now that the SkyD is offered in SS maybe it's less prestigious.

The green dial is spectacular in person. Ken's picture does a great job showing the green

Strangely, I prefer the sticks on the SS dial, so I'd go green DD40 and gladly add a blue SkyD later.
