Agree the colour schemes aren't up to much. Agree with Padi on where all but black can be placed.

I think, eventually, ceramic will inevitably yield to a newer material.

When it does I imagine the reasons given will be for all the disadvantages and difficulties that ceramic brings with it.

Whilst I don't dislike ceramic bezels, I don't love them either.

Funny enough, over at gmtmasterhistory it mentioned the original 6542 went from bakelite to metal bezels because the bakelite was prone to cracking. But despite the few instances we've heard of I'm thinking on a worldwide basis Rolex doesn't see ceramic being problematic in that regard.

Nothing wrong with either, but Rolex will never go back. They`d rather find yet another material. They are in the business of selling continually "upgrades"/tweaks to all their models. They already do. Just like car makers - so they can sell a new" and "better" product. It is what it is.

Personally I would love to see a new Sub or GMT with all the recent upgrades (maxi dial, bigger case, steel spec, bracelets etc.) but with steel/aluminium bezel insert options. To me this would be the best of all worlds. Just think of an upgraded version of the 16710 - with the oyster and jubilee bracelet options you would effectively have 6 watches in one.
